Grading Joe's Offseason So Far

I know that the sweat and champagne have barely dried off the O'brien trophy and the calendar will flip three more times before we start seeing some game action again but I figured that we have made our major moves and we probably won't be doing deals until the trade deadline. So how'd we do?

This summer league was one of the most exciting ones I've seen. It was expected that Stuckey outdid Acker's scoring display and Maxiell returned a man among boys but it was such a different vibe than watching Milicic and Delfino show incredibly brief flashes amidst long stretches of dismal play. This team didn't show their individual talents, they won with them. Right now, our draft looks pretty solid. I know I was complaining about Afflalo because I wanted someone else but Arron did some nice things and brought a great attitude.

Whether you believe it was Joe's positioning or Billups desire to return, you can't argue with the results of a decent contract that rewarded one of the top point guards with in the league while keeping the team from spending a *Lewis!ahem!* fortune. Billups still runs this team like no other and we got Stuckey to make up for his shortcomings.

Signing Samb and Mejia: I like both since we let acker go overseas and he doesn't come back. Mejia was like Delfino on the big boys team. Both guys will be great to follow in the D-league. What did it cost us? A little trade flexibility? Samb would go nowhere on whatever team he was on in Spain. Like Amir, the pistons have to take an active hand if they want to show something for that Mo Evans Trade.

I'll get back to some of the holes left unfilled but I have to give up my computer.

Slippy's grade. B+ Nothing splashy or sexy but we're taking care of business one step at a time.
