Debate revisited: Not sure about that...I think if Joe had drafted Melo he would have been a completely different player and character. He was only 20 or so then and still had a chanced to be schooled and molded differently based on the Piston environment. Even his defensive skills would have been developed by now.
Even though he would have come in with LB as his first NBA coach, he would have still played some minutes and brought on slowly enough to learn all facets of the game behind Tay as opposed to being thrust into the lineup right away with all the pressure on him to be the man. CB, Ben and Sheed would have checked his ego before it got out of control and we would have had the best 6-7 man combo (with Dice) the last 2-3 seasons. Just think even in that second year under Brown, you have to think we would have beaten the Spurs in 5 with Melo and Dice coming of the bench than Dice and the combo of Delfino and Ham
