| History with Orlando Good review of the 2 teams history with each other. Perhaps bears its own thread. Quote:
Orlando and Detroit have a history. One that goes back a lot further than last years first-round sweep, and may go back to a 1996 meeting between the two teams that involved Doug Collins and an Anthony Bowie triple-double.
But when the history really started was during Joe Dumars' first season in charge of the Detroit Pistons, when Grant Hill left the Pistons(and brought Ben Wallace) for Orlando claiming he had a better chance to win a Title there.
Then the history progressed to the 3-1 lead the Magic had over the Pistons in the 2003 playoffs. Only to have the Pistons win three games in a row and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, and with Tracy McGrady still yet to have entered the second-round of a NBA playoff series.
The Orlando Magic are now in the second-round of the NBA playoffs for the first time since 1996, and facing their old nemesis, the Detroit Pistons.
