| Re: Isolating Amir's Foul Problem(s) I think that the primary reason is because he really, really wants to keep the other team from scoring and has the athletic ability (quickness + height + hops) to challenge almost every shot in the paint and beyond.
He doesn't have the discipline to show self restraint in situations where the liklihood for success is low and he doesn't have the experience to assess each situation before he gets involved.
The guy didn't play college ball and has spent a lot of time in practice against Sheed and Dyess, where there are no refs. His NBA experience was minimal last year and he's still adjusting.
It is similar to Sheed's tendancy to get T's. Amir can't allow an easy basket on his watch and Sheed can't allow the ref's to make a mistake. Ironically, Sheed is extremely good at picking his fights as a defender and letting it go when he's beat. He's a great one for Amir to learn from to fix this fouling weakness.
