He didn't get into the league until he was 23 I believe, and he didn't get real minutes until he was 25. That will be Amir in 4 years.
At that point, Ben was averaging a foul every 10.8 minutes. By 2004, he was playing much better defense and also got his foul rate down to 1 every 17 minutes. He currently averages 1 per 16:40, so it's been pretty constant since he figured it out.
So, Amir is starting at a much higher rate, but he's younger and has less experience. Hopefully we will see a similar proportional improvement from him as we did from Ben.
