Re: 2nd Round Game 2 - Chicago May 7 TBD

Huge first quarter for the Pistons had the Bulls back on their heels before they could respond. Skiles even brought Mike Sweetney in for Ben at one point, which was mystifying. Ben recovered in the second quarter and had a decent game, although CWebb torched him in the first quarter.

This was a really bizarre statistical game. Pistons turned it over 21 times, got outshot at the FT line 52-23 (!)...and still won by 21 points. Outrebounding the Bulls 51-30 and outshooting from the floor 53% to 34% (on 11 more FG attempts) accounted for that. And the Pistons leading rebounder, with 9, was...Rip Hamilton.

The Bulls can hope to build on their aggressive drives to the hoop in the second half that got them most of those FTs, but their big 3 are struggling. Hinrich was invisible tonight, and Gordon might as well have been. Deng had only 16, and he was totally dominated by Tay, who dropped 25 and took 8 more shots from the floor than Deng did!

I don't know what the Bulls are going to do about their rebounding woes. They can reasonably hope to shoot better at home, and that the Pistons won't be quite as lights out, but they can't win if they keep getting murdered on the boards. And they can't get anything consistent going for their perimeter scorers.
