The regulation went into effect less than a week after Triple-A Toledo right-hander Jason Karnuth suffered multiple facial fractures during a clubhouse fight that began with a disagreement over music playing throughout the room on an iPod.
The organization has had a similar headset rule at the major league level for a few years, Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said Wednesday.
Karnuth underwent four hours of reconstructive surgery Tuesday. Karnuth's wife, Rachel, has filed a report with the Toledo Police Department, alleging that teammate Roman Colon punched him during a clubhouse fight.
Colon's seven-day suspension concluded Wednesday night.
