Re: NJ Nets December 2nd, 6:00 PM

Only 8 turnovers for us.

7 blocks to 2 in our favor.

We out shot them by 11%.

We out rebounded them on the offensive and defensive glass.

And our highlights (Maxiell) were awesome.

The only bad stat was Amir Johnson with 5 fouls in 10 minutes. Since he was enforcing the paint and usually fouling somebody else's man, no big deal.

I believe AJ is getting frustrated about playing time and is starting to get the "If I am only a garbage time player; I'll play like one" attitude.

It was really a 9 man rotation in this game. Flip Jr., Nazr, and Amir only got minutes once it reached garbage time.

Re: NJ Nets December 2nd, 6:00 PM

I was reading a NJ Nets board and came accross this gem...

Quote:
A game like this you need a Magloire to knock a Piston butt down in the paint or throw a Maxiell around and let him know he just can't fly around the pain like he's Peter Pan in Neverland.....

That is hilarious.

It's easy to take what Maxiell did for granted, since we see him every game. But if you are an opposing fan who doesn't really hear about him much, it would be extremely frustrating to watch him do that to your team.

DD, this is a real concern that you bring up. AJ could be headed for Darko-like status with the fans cheering to see him in garbage time. This is a road the Pistons should avoid. It demoralized Darko (although I still think he should have had a better attitude) and I wouldn't want to see the same happen to Amir. 'Course, Darko was drafted No. 2 overall.

Amir may have been getting frustrated by his 5 fouls in 10 minutes. It would have been embarrasing to foul out of a game playing in only 4th quarter garbage time minutes. Amir was certainly not given any benefit of the doubt on a couple of those foul calls.

Anyone notice how the improvement has coincided with all five of our starters being healthy and starting as a unit.

I thought an interesting comment about Maxey was that because of his aggressiveness he does a lot better coming off of the bench because:

1. Officials tend to call games tighter at the beginning and therefore Maxey tends to get into foul trouble when he starts as opposed to when he comes in off of the bench.

2. His aggressiveness coming off of the bench tends to up the energy level of the starters still on the court when he comes in.
