And on the line was a brute of a guy, best known for plucking caroms from yonder sky.

But his name was not Lee. No it was not.

"Then what was his name?" I heard a slender babe named Austin Daye cry out from his cot.

He proclaimed his name "Millsap", as he reached with one hand, for his "goin' to work" hard hat, and with the other, his armor plated jockstrap.

Very soon, I'm sure we'll all hear, that this brute named Millsap, made us all cheer.

That in 2010, we did throw money at a skinny guy from the North.

Who went by the nickname Rue Paul, and at the mere sight of the 55th draft pick, would proceed to fall.

Neither TV nor PC would help me this day, for until July 1st there was naught Joe could say.

So impatient I waited, as July’s days passed by, with no word from the Palace, not even a sigh.

Free agents chose Portland, even the Memphis Grizzlies. The detractors all shouted “Blame that dolt, Binary!”

“No free agents will play for a man so inane. His coaching is tacky, his suits, are the same.”

Then as quickly as we wondered what a mess had Joe made, ESPN then announced The Pistons had just made a trade.

I'm hoping this is supposed to be some kind of revolutionary, five line haiku.

No just my attempt at poetry.
Or maybe the latest in beatnik pentameter.

So now comes Ben Gordon with contract in hand
But Rip looked him over and said "I'm still the Man."
"Not for long," said Joe, "cuz I'm making a deal"
"You and some filler for a foward I feel
"Would suit this team better as it steers clear of the Teal."

Then Rip scratched his beard and said "Now I know why
"You had your spindoctors fling mud in my eye
It was the same as when CB and Ben left the team
we couldn't be heroes who moved on it seems."

But Joe put his arm around his star guard
And said, "One day you'll learn that this business is hard
As a player its tough but for a GM its tougher
If I let you stay its our fans who will suffer.
And if our fans suffer our sponsors will flee
then who will pay for the salaries we need?"

Then Utah rang with a deal on their minds
The contracts they found had kicked their behinds
Can you help us with the cap space you made
when you blew your season up with that horrible trade?
Joe looked over Boozer and the things that he said
And told the Jazz we'd rather get Chandler instead.
