Some of those mid-season trades can be lopsided. Like when we traded for Sheed. But they do not happen very often. When they do you have to take advantage but you can't wait and count on them happening every year.

If thats what some of you are expecting - Dumars to fleece some team then I can understand the frustration.

But the reality is that you can't expect there to be an all-star center out there for your bench players , just you can't expect the ROY with the 15th pick.

Not so critical toward the kid, but the unrealistic expectation on potential development.

Did JD actually think that he helped his development with Curry and the team circus that developed last year? Booby nearly dropped 40 on us in the playoffs and where is he?

Kwame Brown..rated the "best high school player" in his class..2001 McDonald's All-American...Example when potential is not reached...
It's nice to have potential, especially when it comes at the 15th pick....

Not a great idea to build a team around potential...

I agree, it doesn't happen very often. But it does happen. There are always some circumstances that should be taken into account - Chandler is an allstar, but he may be exposed to injuries.
Bryant was chosen by 13th pick, Nash - 15th, Stockton - 16th, Dumars - 18th.

Lets not forget that the Lakers also gave up 2 1st round picks for Gasol. If things had went south then those could have been pretty good picks.

Re: RUMOR: Maxiell & Kwame for Tyson Chandler trade

Kwame is a better matchup for the bigs in the East (Howard, Perkins, Shaq)... Pretty sure Chandler would blow a tire trying to deny against this type of size.
IMO Plan A is Okafor... plan B is Kaman... C= Chandler.
