You have a gift for hilarity. Have you ever thought of being a stand up comic? I'm sure audiences around the country would get a kick out of your botanical/human comparisons and observations.

And who decides who respects what? I didn't realize we had mind readers here. Mind readers make good staff. What's your schedule like?

The wonders of a threaded forum means that folks can post their differing views, and if they offend you, it's easy to bypass. This is an old thread.

Is that a statement about Pistons fans in general, the members of this board, or this thread in particular?

That has also been done.

Like your signature, advice is best provided in the form of an example.

Nice to see you around Dave.

Re: DMC or a chunk of wood?

To answer these points (still having fun):

"You are entitled to your opinion. Based on the web definition of a roast from Wikipedia, I'd say it qualifies.

A roast is an event in which an individual is subject to publicly bearing insults, praise, outlandish true and untrue stories, and heartwarming tributes. It is seen as a great honor to be roasted, as the individual is surrounded by friends, fans, and well-wishers, who can receive some of the same treatment as well during the course of the evening. The party and presentation itself are called a roast.

I dunno about you and lazyberbs, but Detteam and myself are definitely friends and fans of Darko. I even caught G-man well wishing him once (and he was sober at the time)!"

I think one very important item in the definition of a roast was downplayed. All the roasts I have seen had the ROASTEE IN ATTENDENCE. Otherwise itis just carping behind someone's back. One member mentioned that it was all in fun and DMC would never see it anyway. The point of a roast is that the roastee is in attendence and can join in on the festivities. He can see all the faces and have a chance to put out a few rejoinders if he wants.

Also, I don't think there is any doubt in most posters' minds on whose side I am firmly entrenched.

I never take offense at remarks made in fun toward me or anyone else but I get no sense of people really having fun when some of the posts are put up. There is fun and there is fun at someone else's expense.

We posters seem to have fun when we are discussing our differences between ourselves, but it is totally different when we are carping on someone who has no chance to carp back. That is bullying, and the target is not even there.

Hope I didn't ruin anyone's fun. Of course, I didn't.

That would be giving myself too much credit. On with your sport !!

I beg to differ on bullying...DMC would have to be aware of comments to possibly feel bullied. Consider how many political forums have posters ragging on Bush. Is G-dub being bullied? I don't think so.

That said, the Darko controversy has become similar to politics...what's that word again? Oh yeah...polarized.

I admire the dedication to 'the project' by you, Dave, bball jay, 16 mile, lee, and others. The rest of us are having a little fun...and as it turns out, it's at the expense of Darko diehards...maybe that's where your 'bullying' thot is rooted. I think some of you have taken this personally. I will speak for myself in saying that there is nothing I've seen here that should be taken personally.

IMO...this thread was started in jest to lighten the frustrations of many. IMO...this forum is a form of entertainment.

Interesting concept. I suppose that what I think about as bullying is different from yours. I guess the terms 'back-biting', 'backstabbing', and 'sniping' or 'carping' would be more accurate. I never thought that the person being bullied had to be there, but I would think your definition is more accurate than mine.

And I agree with you that the things said on this thread were not so degrading. I have the tendency to lump all the people who talk ill of others together. There are probably differences.

Anyway, I look at these forums as places to go and match wits and stand up for your POV and stuff like that, so unless someone attacks me personally, I do not take offense. I get very good laughs out of things you guys say about and to me, I really do. I look at it as a form of acceptance. If I post and noone thinks enough about it to pay the slightest bit of attention to it, I feel that I have wasted my time. No fun at all.

Maybe I am too thin-skinned to participate in these forums. When I first started a couple of years ago, I actually apologized to someone because I used their posting name against them, and I thought that I had done something wrong in doing that. I think today, I would not do that.

Even when I don't sound like it, I like being here !!! And I consider quite a few of you my friends.

Shows you how far gone I am

Re: Not nice to make fun of Darko

I for one want to thank the ardent Darko supporters for "advising" me as to how Darko should be treated on this forum. I've called Sheed an overweight pothead on more than a few occasions and I can't remember people coming to his defense. Unless it's completely objectionable and offensive, any comments about "that boy" on this forum are perfectly acceptable.

Well burbs. What did Darko do? He came over here from Serbia and wasted our #2 draft pick. Thats what he did. Pistons have only had 3 top 3 picks in the last 25 years and Darko is one of them.

Can't you tell the difference between you calling Sheed an overweight pothead and more than a dozen people saying a peice of wood has more potential than Darko? For one Sheed is a starter who can quiet his critics with his play. Darko can't, although he has played pretty well the past few games, which does make the "joke" poorly timed in my opinion. Secondly, I don't expect anyone to treat Darko in any special manner. However, it is disappointing to find an entire thread devoted to throwing insults at him, uninventive insults at that.

Oh yeah, you ever see the Pamela Anderson roast? A Canadian, too.

Yep, and his lack of progress is really ruining our season, isn't it? Our 35-5 record is what's responsible for wasting that #2 pick. Maybe you would rather have a 10-30 team with a contributing top 3 pick?
