That's a good point... if they don't make it in the next two years they'll less of a player than the Pistons from 2011- ????
Certainly can't blame them going for broke.

Re: Dumars: Pistons Won’t Be Active Before Deadline

Apologizing for or being embarrassed about Dumars is about as assinine as it gets. A championship, a near championship and 4 other ECF's appearances - especially given where the team was (WASN'T really -- god we were hopeless and wrapped up with the worst contracts in the sport) when Joe took over, is remarkable.

All teams take a dive after their periods of greatness. That's unavoidable. Now we get the fun of hoping we can do it again. And any team with Stuckey, the 3 rookies, Bynum, Gordon and CV has something potentially very promissing to build on. Now let's hope the ping pong ball gods treat us well.

Re: Dumars: Pistons Won’t Be Active Before Deadline

Very realistic answer from Silvertongue this time to one of "burning questions"

from his latest mailbag:
Quote:
Andrew (Ann Arbor, Mich.): When is the organization going to transition from the goal of “making the playoffs” to “playing the rookies consistently?” There is no reason why Austin Daye shouldn’t be playing 30 minutes a game and DaJuan Summers 18 minutes a game.
Langlois: Sure there is. Even if you concede the goal of making the playoffs is all but out of reach now, there are many practical reasons why Daye and Summers aren’t going to get those kind of minutes consistently. Maybe you do that in the last two weeks of the season, Andrew. But with 36 games remaining? When you haven’t had the team you expected together essentially all season? The Pistons have a lot of money and a big piece of their future invested in Rodney Stuckey, Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. They need to play those three first and foremost. They need to play Ben Wallace because without him, an inconsistent defensive team becomes flat-out porous. They need to play Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton for practical reasons. From now until the trade deadline, for sure, they need them to show they can perform at customary levels if the Pistons, indeed, have any interest in moving one or the other to further facilitate their transition. If the trade deadline passes and they’re both still here, not much changes, really. They’ll still be candidates to be traded in the off-season and will need to re-establish their trade value.
I hope you all understand now why I dislike this moaning in this forum "ohwhyohwhynominutesfordaye". There is bigger picture...

This concept never seems to hit home... at this juncture it should be about obtaining value for the moving parts...
then it better be rookie time.

Yeah, and if it's not the fans have every right to revolt. Hell, it's painful right now watching Prince and Hamilton play 35 minutes a night. Not sure if I could stomach that the rest of the year.

It's asinine to call someones opinion assinine while you're trying to call it asinine.

Don't know if this has been posted but Paul Pierce may have a broken foot... think they could use Tay or Rip now?

I was thinking the same exact thing.
Rip+Tay for Ray+Big Baby. Makes them a bit younger, keeps them in contention, and they become huge players in the 2011 free agency market - with Tay, Sheed, Pierce, and Perkins coming off the books.
