Now that the madness is over...

Free agency really is getting going. With the new big 3 all going to one team, things could not have worked out better for the Pistons to make some deals. Cleveland has nothing, Knicks and Nets have tons of cap left. Clippers got nothing. Utah has 13 mill exception they can use for sign and trade.

Lebron and the crew did the Pistons a solid. And with contracts like Haywood and Outlaw are getting, our contracts dont look to bad at all.

Could be some interesting 3-4 team trades going on.

Re: Now that the madness is over...

What we have that might interest those teams?

Lets see.. Hamilton - Prince - Charlie Villanueva are some of the players that can fit in their roster.

The Nets, Knicks, Cavs could use them.

(I don't want to see Prince leaving the Palace, EVER, but if we could get something really good like, I don't know, Devin Harris or Mo Williams or some first rounds and young players like Toney Douglas or J.J. Hickson)

I would LOVEEEEE to have Brook Lopez in a Pistons uniform, but I know I'm dreaming..

Re: Now that the madness is over...

Thats where I can see a classic 3-4 team trade. IdK if any off our assets would go directly to those teams, but it leaves the chances wide open for some lopsided trades as far as salaries go.

Mo williams is streaky and disappears at important times, not too interested in Hickson or Douglass. Harris and Lopez on the other hand are another story, Harris is the real deal at PG and Lopez is the ideal big man.

Utah has 13 millions of Boozer with TPE to spend in players like hamilton, i wish we trade him to west.
DŽantoni system not fit with rip style, but nets,BULLS,Utah(deron williams) or minessota can land him.

Re: Now that the madness is over...

At this point I'd trade for a first round pick rather than another player. Those teams don't have anything I'd want other than players that they aren't going to trade away for Hamilton/Maxiell/Prince.

My friend you are exactly correct. Utah's $13M player exception make Rip the ideal landing spot for Rip and/or Tay. And like most I'm willing to give them away for draft picks or Capp Spayce. This makes it easier to get AL Jefferson also.

Re: Now that the madness is over...

It seems to me that the trade situation can wait. The picking of a MLE cannot. There are, perhaps, 5-6 solid choices.: Barnes, Haslem, Howard, Williams, Miller and Scola.

For what the Pistons need and possibility that JD does no trading, then my choice would be Luis Scola:
  • Will give you 100 % grit every night (might be the toughest around)
  • 30 years old (healthy)
  • 6-9, Averages 16.2/8.6
  • Making 3.2 million
  • Flexibly at the 4-5 position and stays there.
Time to make the move: give him 4-5 years @ the MLE and finally get a rebounder who scores. Possible trade for JMax? This also might show Monroe how tough one has to become in order to stay around in the NBA.

No more excuses about madness.
