Re: anything to fear?

One thing we could hope for is the Spurs have to play a 7-gamer vs. the Mavs and another 7-gamer vs. Phx in the WCF and they are tired in the Finals.

Re: anything to fear?

So why would they be "tired" in the finals? Because they have no bench? Or because they aren't playing their bench? Reminds me of a politics forum....It's okay for them, but we don't need it!
Fear? Come on. Complacency. A feeling of having accomplished it all in the regular season. The fear of having not developed the bench. There's 3 I can think of off the top of my head. Not to mention an actual thread that oozes arrogance and over confidence.

going in to the season i thought the pistons would have a higher chance of having 7 game series with opponents in the east. it looks as if san antonio has the higher chance now.

What are you babbling about? The Spurs' starting five AND their bench could be both tired if they face both Dallas and Phoenix in 7-gamers. Dallas' D will make them work and PhX will outrun them. All I'm saying is that would be a nice scenario for the Pistons. Detroit's series with Miami took a lot out of them last season. They played a six-gamer vs. stubborn Indy before that. And yeah, the bench didn't play much, but the bench wasn't all that good either. If the bench had played more, the Pistons might not have even played the Spurs. As much as people rip LB for not playing the bench, what if he had played more of the bench? Two things would've happened: They would have held their own or they would've sucked. And they probably would've sucked.

Re: anything to fear?

No babble. You walk right into my point. What if LB had been playing the bench during the season? (Like Flip has a chance while they are tearing it up). Don't we learn from our past mistakes?
Trust me, as a Colts fan, the regular season brought many "What do we have to fear?" threads. Yeah, that regular season certainly was fun.

Shine's our old pal, Ski-Nobleville. Happy to see him pushing all of the right buttons.

Re: anything to fear?

Shine cannot blame the Pistons this season.

The only thing we have to fear are injuries. Thats the #1 thing that has sunk good teams. Regular season mathups are not a complete gage of how 2 teams will do in the playoffs. Even losing 2 to Utah bears no consequence if we had to face them. The Dallas game was just one of those games. I would much rather face Dallas than SAN in the Finals.

Re: anything to fear?

I don't think the Pistons need to "fear" any other team in the league right now. Yes, under certain circumstances the Pistons can be beat, but at this point there is nothing to worry about.

We already know how well the Pistons play in the post season. They aren't letting up in the regular season and they aren't playoff chokers (quite the opposite, in fact). Things look pretty darn good for them at the moment, and if any team is to be "feared" it is Detroit.

Nothing is guaranteed, but anything we are concerned about at this point seems to me to be based only on "what ifs..." The Pistons know how to deal with adversity should that arrive in the future.

What team has a good chance of beating them 4 games in a 7 game series? Hell, they have only lost 6 games in 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: anything to fear?

Fan arrogance means nothing. Over-confidence from the team is the real danger. I think, though, that when it comes down to it, the humbling experience of last season will keep them hungry. This team has been taking care of business so it stands to reason that they will continue to do so in the post season. We're not always clawing from behind this time around so that's got to be helping.

While I would like to see more bench minutes, i think we are moving in that direction somewhat. If there hasn't been a big jump in minutes, theres been an increase of amount of times guys get out there. So instead of Mcdyess and Evans, you are getting a smattering of everybody. It beats sitting for weeks on end.

as far as roadblocks in the playoff march...i'm just interested to see the pistons turn it up a notch when we get there.
