Fear? Come on. Complacency. A feeling of having accomplished it all in the regular season. The fear of having not developed the bench. There's 3 I can think of off the top of my head. Not to mention an actual thread that oozes arrogance and over confidence.

Let's talk about this thread being "over confident."

#1. This thread isn't titled We Can't Lose.

#2. The thread specifically aims to weigh the merit of Dallas as a real contender, especially compared to Detroit. It's not a circle jerk.

#3. Who cares if we, the fans, are over confident (even though I'm not seeing that here). The Pistons players don't seem to be. They've been playing focused basketball all season, playing each team hard. They also say all the right things. So if the Pistons are over confident, you must see something I don't.

#4. Don't compare the Pistons to the Colts. Ever. The Pistons have already proven that they know how to win the big one, which seems to be the real dividing factor between the legacies of these teams. It's not about over confidence.

Re: anything to fear?

Griffen - Yes the Pistons are in no way similiar to the Colts. The Pistons are a proven under pressure team that has already won it all less than 2 years ago. The Pistons core ( with Ben Wallace ) has never lost in the 1st round. The core with Billups,Rip,Prince has never dropped a 2nd round series. And the core with Sheed has made it into the Finals the past 2 seasons winning 1.

Folks. Don't let anyone ever site some choker team that could not get it done in the post-season. The Pistons have proven they can and this season is only icing on the cake. Fun for the fans and making it easier for the post-season by securing home court.

Pistons are in no way related to the Colts, Pacer, T-Wolves, Dolphins, or any other reg-season wonder.

Re: anything to fear?

But the Pistons are a regular season wonder this season. And the nature of this thread suggests what can happen to a team that begins to believe the same. Sorry.
Just the fact that someone would start a thread like this is reason enough to fear.

Re: anything to fear?

er, it was to discuss the contenders

looking at indiana...utah. This team has the ability to get beat by any team...I'm talking decimated by injury and struggling teams not just mediocre teams. Hopefully it was fatigue or something.

Miami is putting it together. I don't think they can outlast the pistons if the pistons bring their A game but they're definitely good enough to beat us if we bring anything else.

Re: anything to fear?

I'll blame some of the fatigue on Arroyo... Chauncey's got a sore hand and Carlos oversleeps (or whatever) and misses the flight... so he's benched and CB has to play major minutes on the 1st of back-2 backs.

I'm also wondering out loud if Sheed and Rip didn't have a lil after game party with their Philly friends....
We knew coming in that the Pistons were scheduled for more back-2-backs than any other team... but I'd rather get the tough part of the schedule over early and be rested for the playoffs...
It would be real nice to go into the playoffs with a 3 or 4 game lead over all other comers... play the bench and make sure the starters are ready to roll... make the sacrifices now.

If Rip had a "lil after game party", maybe that guy should do the same in every town. He seemed to be the only starter to look himself.

Re: anything to fear?

who are you. man. the pistons are not an overconfident team. they are the same team like the last 2 years except we are seeing them play there playoff basketball from the last 2 years in the regular season. so it will only help them get homecourt. do you know anything about the piston players? because if you have not figured out this yet they are the hardest working team so get your facts straight, and stop making different discussions on threads.

Funny stuff, Shine. The "hardest working team..." with fans who start threads that ooze overconfidence.
Funny stuff.

Re: anything to fear?

Fellas,

Aint been around in a minute, but i'm back on board. I have read alot of your comments and i agree with most of what has been said. When the pistons are playing focused, they have proven that they are the toughest there is. When they play with some focus, they are still tough, but can still be beaten (i.e. utah the 2nd game). For the simple fact that they have yet to have a losing streak this season says way more than anything we can say about in any other team in the league, so w/ that said, fear is an option, but for the opposing teams. True indeed, anyone can be beaten on any given night, but to beat these pistons in a 7-gamer is had to fathom.....whether it be the spurs, mavs, heat, cavs, pacers, whoever!!!

But with that said, it's always best to still remain HUMBLE regardless how things are going. U can have confidence, but have it w/ humility (that goes for us and the players). I'm sure they understand that though. Let's all just continue to stay focused on the season and just ENJOY THE RIDE cause we may never see this again!!!!

HOLLA BACK!!!!!!!

"If u aint cheatin, u aint tryin!"
