My concerns

#1. Who will get McDyess all those open jump shots?

#2. What if we can't find an "adequate" replacement for Arroyo. Is Chauncey going to start playing 45mpg?

#3. What is the worst case scenario with that protected 2007 pick? It's hard to say how good or bad Orlando will be next year- it's possible they could luck out and draw a top 3 pick in 2007, or they could end up being a 5th seed in the playoffs with all that talent (Darko, Howard, Nelson, 2006 lottery pick). Who knows what they will get for Franchise if they trade him, or what if Grant Hill gets healthy? We may not even get a lottery pick out of this deal.

#4. Is it possible Joe could send Cato and that pick to another team for a PG before the trade deadline? Dumars has always been a big fan of Jamal Crawford- the Knicks need to cut some salary and are overloaded with perimeter players. I hope we don't blow that pick on a guard!

#5. What the hell are we going to argue about now? Carlos Arroyo and Darko Milicic were the biggest topics of conversation, not just for me, but for most Pistons fans. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of Lindsey Hunter bashing soon.

He got plenty of his shots in the playoffs last year.

Word is that Alex Acker is going to be worked into the rotation unless Joe makes a move.

That's fine. We'll have two picks in the deepest draft in years. The Orlando pick will have trade value up to the point at which it is revealed which position it will be at (if at all). This is a great asset to have. And if we draft two late first rounders in a deep draft, that helps the salary structure. I am NOT worried about this.

We can't trade just the pick because we are over the salary cap. We need to trade salary for salary. I don't see Joe moving that expiring deal unless he gets a TON in return. It doesn't make sense.

But this does make sense. We traded 2 fer 1. That makes two spots open in the rotation for players already on the roster (Alex Acker, Amir Johnson, Jason Maxiell), and gives us room to add 2 players if Cato is waived (as some have suggested). Sprewell anyone? Just sign him to a one year deal...

Yeah, how predictable will that be?

I think the Darko in Orlando watch will last quite some time. Maybe we need to get DMC his own sub forum again...

Re: My concerns

well.......I don't understand why we traded Carlos Arroyo while we are trying to make a run for a title. Yes down the road it may help us but the window for titles are short and we have a great chance for one now.

I don't see how this makes us better now. We are not a team who needs to look one or two years down the road to setup for a title run. However, I was mad about the trade sending stack away and....Joe knew better. I didn't like that we let Hill get away......but Joe knew better. You see a common theme.....as bad as I disagree with this trade I am giving JD the benefit of the doubt. He has earned it.

We need to trade this new contract ASAP for a good bench player. Forget all this saving money just pay the stupid tax Davidson your not losing any money.

Re: My concerns

Are we sure this isn't one of those trades trades that if Arroyo clears waivers, he could be headed back to the "D"?? Orlando does want to move Franchise, so that could have Carlos starting over Jameer. I am anxious to see how everything unfolds.

That loophole was closed in the new collective bargaining agreement.

PF, the more I look at this deal, the more I like it.

Carlos was 50/50 if you grade out all of his performances thus far. I'd like to think that Lindsey will be a 50/50 player as well, bringing less on offense and more on defense.

You gotta remember that we rode Hunter in the playoffs and were one quarter away from repeating. The guys feel that with a more open offense and homecourt, they would win a title under the same circumstances.

I don't see how this makes us worse now. See above on Carlos. And Darko was not going to be a big contributor this year based on the last 2 months. Joe had to think ahead to not only re-signing Ben and Chauncey, but creating opportunities for the 3 rookies on the team.

If the Pistons are as high on Acker as has been mentioned, there is no way to keep Carlos and still work Alex into a role. Acker was a second round pick on a 2 year contract. The timetable for his evaluation has to be rapid.

Who knows? Maybe Joe was desperate and I am being over optimistic, but salary structure plays an important part in building and maintaining a team. If things work out right, this could be one of the few (only?) teams to field the same starting 5 for 3-1/2 or more seasons.

Re: My concerns

My point is when we are 42-9...If it doesn't make us better now, wait till summer. I may be wrong and JD is the best GM in game....So once again I will walk by faith not by my opinion. There is a reason he runs the best team in the NBA and I post my little opinion on here.

Re: My concerns

I hope Acker at least gets a look. More of a look than Darko got anyway, which wouldn't be much. I like his game, kind of a mix between Tayshaun and Smush Parker.
