yeah but that's like the suns trying to get 'insurance' in case nash goes down...you're just not gonna find a backup PG in the league who can do what chauncey does.

I like this move better than no move at all.

To me, its a no risk pickup. We had a roster spot available, we were in the market for a PG, he was the best available PG, and we got him.

We didn't have to give up anything to get him and he adds some depth, so why not?

Its not the pickup of the decade, but its a solid addition.

I'll buy that....
It sounds like Joe made an attempt to get a better player (Claxton, Knight etc) but the cost was too high... he prolly had his guys talk to Delk's guys behind the scenes... so that plan "C" was in effect at zero cost.
Ya know PG's are still abusing Arroyo's defense now that he's changed jerseys.

It's also kind of cool that other teams wanted to sign him and he picked Detroit for less $. I mean, it's a no-brainer... but it's nice to be reminded the position the Pistons are in now making it a no-brainer.

yeah i think he saw how professional joe and the pistons are, and he knows he won't have any issues behind the scenes here.

unless darkos old locker was cursed when he moved in.

I haven't seen Delk play recently, but something tells me that any player who can score 50+ points in a single game is a player who could heat up and stay hot for a while. We got him for free, might as well make him another of Joe D's famous reclamation projects.

i didn't see the seattle game, but delk looks like he's strong and a solid defender, and can make jumpshots if he has to. more importantly, he's got that chip on his shoulder (8 teams in 10 years i think he said?), and the other guys really like him.

This is more proof that the Pistons are a vet. organization. Rookies, unmade players and misfits need not apply.
So, TDrib for Buckets it's a "now" thing only.

Re: Who is Tony Delk (waived friday/Good Pick-up)

Update - in the last couple of games Delk has been looking like a great source of instant offense off the bench. Even in the losing effort on Sat Delk came in and scored what 12 points off the bench in the 3rd at least keeping the Pistons within striking range.

I can see why he has been slipping through the cracks though. Bit of tweener too short for SG and not really much of a playmaker at the point. But he is a nice defender and a great shooter. Will come in very handy and appears to be the coaches choice so far at the backup guard spots.
