Mlive | Delk coming to Motown

Delk's coming to Motown
The Pistons are going to sign Tony Delk sometime tomorrow morning. The 6-2 guard cleared waivers about 15 minutes ago, making him eligible to sign with any team he wants to.

The 32-year-old isn't expected to play much for Detroit, but in case Chauncey Billups or Lindsey Hunter suffers an injury, Detroit now has a veteran they know that can come in and do a decent job.

Obviously, Delk isn't going to be a player that's going to make a major impact on this team. But his presence shows that Joe D., to his credit, continues to cover all the bases in case things don't go as planned.

And Delk, to his credit, understands he's walking into a situation where minutes are not going to be there early on, and they may not come at all.

But a chance to win a title, at this stage of his career, was obviously an opportunity he felt was too good to pass up.

Stay tuned for more info to come ...

Nice lookout TP22... If Blakely say it's so... then it's so.
In these cases it's best to expect the worse and hope for the best... you guys made a convincing argument for T.D. becoming a valuable backup in case L.H. went down... Delk didn't want to be sitting there in June regretting not signing with a champion (and all of it's rewards beyond salary).

Just like Cato, Delk has plenty of time to get into game shape... just in time for the big show.

We now have all of the bases coved... which begs the question... if we have an injury who would be the biggest loss?

dice would be a huge injury. because if sheed does get suspended in a big game, and dice is injured who would be our power forward?

i like the pickup. delk is a very good overall player, and we didn't have to give up anyone to get him.

I think this should just about cover all the bases. As to who would play power forward if Sheed was suspended and Dice was hurt...

Hmmm. Let's see. Who could play a couple of minutes of Power forward for us? Darko? Nope. He's gone. Maybe... wait! I know!
