Plus minus

Tayshaun's +/- is the best on the Pistons and one of the best in the NBA. He is one of the only players who's +/- is equal at about +7/-7. Perfect combination of offense and defense. Plus, he's got a great humble, yet confident attitude. Keep him at all costs.

Tay

Keep him at all cost!!!!

Love the guy, his resilience, his development and hard work are right up there with the rest of the great players.

Hopefully he'll know his worth and won't demand that overbloated a contract, and from what we've seen from him, he'll demand his worth not become another overpriced wannabe.

Stay man! Do your work JOE!

Thumbs up

Hey, if Darko is worth 4 this year and 5 next year then Prince is worth at least double that.

Signing Tayshaun to a contract of this size will elavate his game. Prince will see that the organization thinks he's worth quite a lot, and I believe that show of confidence will encourage him to raise his game even more.

But I don't think he's worth this much. Not yet.

And what would Rip and Chauncey think about this? Tay would make more than them per year, wouldn't he?

You gotta pay Tay that money
  1. To lock him up long term now in case he does explode
  2. He will get an offer like that on the open market (or better)
  3. It shows a commitment to the core and sends a message that Joe is a good guy to work for.
  4. What was that block on Reggie worth? Or the defense on Kob-ay in the Finals?
Solid move by Joe. Maybe his best move this offseason if it goes through.

Given Tay's mild-mannered public appearance to all of us, how much do you think he really wants to leave the Pistons, regardless of dollars?

My personal take is that Tay is loyal to a fault. I think he and Joe will work something out that serves to the good of both he and the team. Much the way I believe Ben & Joe will work something out next year. I think the core of this team knows that they owe some of their individual DNA to the faith & support the Pistons organization has shown them. Blood is thicker than water. That's what makes a great team.

The Pistons have no prima donnas. That's what makes them unique...and successful. I think they all know that...including Tay.

I hope Flip is up to the task of acknowledging that quality after serving KG for many years.

Maybe I'm too idealistic, but after the last 2 years, I don't think so.

No

I do not think Prince is worth 10mil/yr. Especially after his less than stellar performances in the Conf and NBA Finals.

Prince is not the kind of guy that can take over a teams offense or be the focal point of the offense. He needs a team. As the 3rd option he has succeeded but guys who get near max deals should be able to do more.

These agents. His agent knows Dumars has to sign Tay. Should Tay be getting more than Rip? Almost twice as much as Billups?

damn, Sheed is truly overpaid. He earns more thant the likes of Nash, Lewis, Boozer, Randolph, Miller or Arenas? Hard to believe...
Tayshaun wouldn't be worth such an amount of money. But nowadays, with wack teams doing and signing everything they can get, he could get that much money. I'm not sure if he'd be that loyal, he's from Cali and has mentioned the bad climate in Detroit very often. The city is just not as attractive as Miami or LA.
Plus, as max mentioned, he didn't play well in the Miama and SA series. Maybe he was worn out because of being overplayed in the season, but this year, there ain't no excuses.
