If you don't get minutes you can't produce.

I was just amazed to see that he actually did manage to string a few good games together. All my memories of him last year are of him under the basket doing that really slow pump fake over and over again.

December 27th, 26th, 23rd, 21st respectvely:

Pt/Reb/Bk
18/14/2 in 30 minutes
15/7/1 in 23 minutes
19/10/2 in 23 minutes
10/6/0 in 23 minutes

After that, he only broke double digits in any category 1 time, when he got 15 points on Jan 6th. He only got 66 points in 2007, which comes out to less than 3 per game.

Re: Rotations

This sounds a bit scary. Hunter getting regular minutes.

Re: Rotations

Play AA.
He's here to stay.
He'll be a star by May.
With his development, don't delay.

Flip Saunders, don't get in the way............

Hunter to play and AA to sit?

TWO SPOT: With Murray playing mostly at point guard, it seems rookie Arron Afflalo would be the first option to back up Rip Hamilton at shooting guard.

"Not necessarily," Saunders said.

Looks like at this time that the Nov rotation will be basically the same as last May's with only two changes.

1. Hayes replaces Delfino
2. Dyess replaces C-Webb in the Starting lineup

Hayes is a better shooter than Delfino.

Delfino is a better passer than Hayes (I am only assuming this to be the case, since Hayes never passes the ball so we really don't know how good a passer he may be. LOL)

Delfino is a better rebounder.

Delfino is probably a better defender.

Dyess replacing C-Webb is probably a slight upgrade. Dyess is a better rebounder and defender than C-Webb. C-Webb is a better passer than Dyess.

So net net, it looks like we let go two good passers for an upgrade to our shooting.

Overall I would say a wash except that when Hayes is hot he can get a lot of points very quickly, probably even with Hunter running the point. LOL

Of course JMax will be better this year and get more minutes than last year so that is an upgrade over last year's rotation.

In the end it appears to me though that the really upgrade to the rotation will be if and when we get Hot Rod and AJ in the rotation replacing Hunter and Nazr.

When Hot Rod returns from his injury, Hunter is gone. That is a given and a definite upgrade over last year right from the git go, except maybe in certain defensive situations in which Hunter probably can still excel for short periods of time.

At this point it doesn't seem to likely that AJ will get ahead of Dyess, Sheed, or JMax in the rotation this year, so if you figure that Prince and Hayes consume most of the minutes at the #3 then we are left with 96 minutes to allocate at the #4 among the five guys including Nazr.

I look for Sheed, Dyess and JMax to get close to 85 minutes a game which leaves 11 minutes a game, give or take to divide up between Nazr and AJ.

This means that this year for AJ will probably turn out to be like JMax's rookie year with a lot of DNP's coaches decision and a limited number of minutes in the games that he does play in, unless there is an injury to one of the guys ahead of him.

Re: Rotations

With Stuckey out for awhile, I think this opens the door for Sammy making the 15 player squad and the days of Dupree playing cheerleader behind the bench are over.

Meija may have still made the squad anyway as Dupree still never proved that he belonged on the team during preseason.

Any bets on who gets cut??

Re: Rotations

Buddah, in response to your last post here, my only comment is that if that is how we start, its from bad choices by Saunders, not according to what is best for the team. Just because Stuckey is out, does not mean we still don't have other young players who could be immediately in the rotation.

I hate Flip Saunders.

The OBVIOUS move is to play Flip at backup PG and Afflalo at backup SG. Hell, Afflalo was probably the 2nd most impressive player in the preseason next to Maxiell. Surprising that Flip would choose the guy who can't shoot to save his life (Lindsey) over the best overall shooter we had in the pre-season. We all know how he likes jump shots.
