However, there is one BAD reason why all of the above can't take place...Flip Saunders. Fire Flip and our problems are solved.
I wouldn't be in such hurry. I'd wait and see. AJ is still recovering from the injury and it is not known how Flip will be incorporating him into the rotation. Also, it's always easy spending someone else's money, but Davidson would have to pay Flip and pay whoever that new coach would be.

Amir and JMax will both be a part of the regular rotation very soon. You guys are getting all bent out of shape for nothing.

People who know these things say that Maxey can't play the #3 effectively.

Having a discussion based upon information presented on a well respected Pistons blogger's comments is not getting bent out of shape unless you are McCloskey.

Sorry. I'm not bent out of shape about anything Buddafan wrote.

I must admit, I am frustrated at Saunders, mostly from things he's done in past years. We've seen Saunders do things like tightening his rotations, while sitting some promising players (Amir last year and dare I mention Darko).

I was getting a bad case a deja vu watching the Pistons last night.

Hopefully, Amir was only sitting because of his sore achilles tendon.

Let me make this perfectly clear (I can't believe I started the post that way, oh well), the fact that it appears to me at this point that AJ will not get serious minutes this year, does me that I am happy with it, in fact just the opposite. I would love to see him play because based upon the games I have seen him play and what I have read about him as a player from respected sources it appears to me that he will be a big help to us in winning if he plays, more so than some of the guys playing now that he could take some minutes from.

PISTONS CORNER: Pistons' big men cover the paint

November 6, 2007

BY KRISTA JAHNKE

FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

Pistons coach Flip Saunders didn't want to take anything away from past lineups and the work they did defensively, but ...
"But these three games," he said, "we've probably been as good protecting the paint as we've ever been."

Wallace powers Pistons' defense

Detroit forward has shut down stars such as O'Neal, Lewis and Smith so far this season.

Chris McCosky / The Detroit News

AUBURN HILLS -- In the first game of the season, Rasheed Wallace guarded Shaquille O'Neal, a behemoth in the middle. Stopped him. O'Neal scored nine points and got off just six shots.

Game 2, Wallace covered Rashard Lewis, a sleek, perimeter-oriented power forward. Stopped him. Lewis scored 21 points but did not have a field goal in the second half.

Game 3, Wallace was assigned Josh Smith, a younger, bigger and longer version of Lewis. Stopped him. Smith missed 13 of 17 shots.

"I think Sheed has taken the challenge of knowing he's our so-called center and taking the challenge of knowing he's really the anchor of our inside defense," coach Flip Saunders said Monday. "He's always been known as a great defender. Now I think because he's in such great shape, he can use his versatility. He's always had great hands and he gets his hands on a lot of balls. But because he's in much better shape, he's able to sustain that and play more in late-game situations."

Wallace has gotten plenty of help. The Pistons' defense has been smothering at times. But there is no denying Wallace's impact. He had eight blocks and made five steals.

And most importantly, he hasn't been in foul trouble.

"I've always played good defense, even before I got here," Wallace said. "The only year I was kind of shaky on defense was my rookie year in Washington because the guys I was guarding,I didn't know their tendencies I've always loved playing defense. To me, it's a bigger and better part of the game than offense."
Right on, Uncle Sheed.

Pistons Preview: The Bench

Matt Watson November 6, 2007

Last week, Kevin previewed the starting lineup, describing what the Pistons needs from each player in order to lock up another title. This week, he previews the bench.

__________________
Amir Johnson
Really, the Pistons need defense from Amir. His offensive game will develop over time, but his height and athleticism should allow him to be very disruptive on the defensive end, especially against the 2nd and 3rd stringers he is likely to face. For all his talents, Maxiell is a defensive liability and a mediocre rebounder. Johnson can earn his minutes by blocking and altering shots and hording defensive rebounds. One key stat will be his bpg/foul ratio. If he can stay north of, say .80 in that area, it will be a sure sign that this season was a success.

Nazr Mohammed
That this guy has DNPs next to his name is absurd, but it appears that the trend may continue. What’s worse is that even if Mohammed or Johnson fail to take the next step, it appears as though Chris Webber has a rotation spot secured for him.......

Lindsey Hunter
Welcome to the world of management. Here is your key to the executive washroom. Oh, and keep in shape, cause you’ll probably wind up seeing heavy minutes in the Eastern Conference Finals anyway.....
That comments about C-Webb and Hunter are certainly interesting.
