Re: Rotations

Time for another rotation, due to Samb getting to play. Not because all the sudden I think he is pretty good; I knew that already. Now some more people are seeing what I am seeing, a guy who has physical skills already far and above many centers. He is ready to play right now.

I am going to fast forward a bit, to when Stuckey is back. Dumars has bit the bullet, released Dupree, Mohammed, and Flip Murray. And Hunter is now a coach. Mejia has been signed to bring our roster to 12 players.

We start:

Billups, Rip, Tay, Sheed, Samb.

The second unit is:

Stuckey, Afflalo, Amir, JMAX, Dyess

The two spare players are Hayes and Mejia. Hayes can play small forward, and power forward. Him playing power forward could move JMAX or Amir to center upon occasion. Mejia can play point, shooting guard, and small forward. Him playing small forward can move Amir to center. Lots of versatility from our 11th and 12th guys, and yes, I would expect that they get some playing time.

And sometimes, we would see this unit:

Stuckey, Afflalo, Mejia, Amir, JMAX.

In all, Dyess would have a far reduced role, more of a defensive specialist against bigger centers.

What about next year?

We learned we can't start him
We learned he doesn't cut it coming off the bench.

3 more years on his contract after this one. I doubt that anyone will want him in a trade unless it is a low level second round pick.

Most likely we will buy him out or sit him on the end of the bench just in case.

Great job if you can get it. $30 million for 5 years of butt rot. One think is for sure. He can afford to buy the lotion he will need because of the butt rot.

Maybe if Joe wants to trade Flip, someone will like him so much that they will persuaded to take Naz with him.

If a team has 15 or fewer players, it is to the team's disadvantage to just waive a player. You gain no cap space and lose trade value, even if it is just filler.

Not always. When you have a coach who can't identify which players he should be playing, it is better to remove the poorer players from the roster. If the Pistons want to win a championship this season, the time is now to clean up the roster, and then concentrate on playing winners the rest of the season.

This theory of showcasing Murray and Mohammed by playing them is not working. The more either plays, the less likely anyone will take the players. Do you really think a coach is going to run all his plays to exploit Murray's poor defense and then turn around and ask his GM to get Murray on his team? It ain't happening. Filler? This kind of filler, the other team is going to want compensation for taking off our hands.

Meanwhile, guys like Amir, Samb, Afflalo, Mejia (who should be playing for us) are not getting as much playing time as they should be getting. So the showcasing hurts two ways. Not only are we wasting our time playing players who will not help us in the playoffs, we are failing to play the guys who can help.

The Pistons are in Los Angeles facing the Lakers tonight, and earlier today Kurt from Forum Blue and Gold asked me a few questions about the Pistons earlier today for his readers. I obliged, and as you’ll read below, he made time to do the same for us …

The Lakers have a of history snatching up former Pistons point guards, from Lindsey Hunter to Chucky Atkins to Smush Parker. What’s the over/under for how long until Flip Murray is starting for L.A.?

Webber mysteriously still unemployed

Chris Webber is still unemployed, but last season's playoff meltdown notwithstanding, he's still got some juice left at age 34. He averaged 11 points and seven rebounds as a part-time player last year, and there should be some contender out there who could use a cerebral post player who can anchor your second unit for 20 minutes a night.

He turned down a lucrative deal in Greece (reportedly two years, $10-12M) because he said he could only play with the Detroit Pistons, but that ship sailed when they were unable to move Nazr Mohammed's salary.

Re: Rotations

LOL!!!!!

44 pages of rotations!!!!! Somebody has too much time on their hands.

I got a rotation. How does this one sound. Billups, Tay, Sheed, Rip, and Antonio. I wonder if anyone has proposed this one yet. Sounds like a winner to me.
