11th and 12th guys, Mejia and Hayes.
Mejia is no longer on the team. You might as well include Gregory Kelser and Rick Mahorn in your rotations.

2 more years after this one Buddha.

Please remember that your namesake did not become a full time starter until he was 33 years old.

I got a rotation. How does this one sound. Billups, Tay, Sheed, Rip, and Antonio. I wonder if anyone has proposed this one yet. Sounds like a winner to me.

In 78-79 at the age of 23 he averaged 31 MPG
In 81-82 at the age of 26 he averaged 33 MPG

He never averaged over 30 MPG during any other year of his career.

Re: Rotations

In all seriousness, I wish that Flip would read this thread. This team really needs to get away from that we got the best starting 5 in basketball BS and realize that there are 14 players on this team that can help this team win on any given night. Want Proof?? Fine I got time:
  1. Chauncey - He's...Chuancey
  2. Rip - Obvious
  3. Tay - Obvious
  4. Sheed - Obvious
  5. Dyess - Can defend the post well, can really get on a roll and puts some points on the board, if he ever gets a chance to touch the dang ball in an offensive set.
  6. Maxiel - Beast, can even score in the post if he ever gets a chance to touch the dang ball.
  7. Flip Jr. - Really the only player playing right now who really penetrates, gets into the paint & breaks down the defense, he also will push the break better than Billups. In all reality if you watch his game objectively there are alot of things he does a whole lot better than Billups that can help this team.
  8. Hayes - When put in the right scenario, and his teammates actually look to get him the dang ball can rally light it up some nights.
  9. Nazr - I know he has his limitations, but he really runs the floor and establishes deep-early post position in the paint, and gets a ton of offensive rebounds.
  10. AJ - Still looks LOST!!! Deer in the headlights, that said he can still run the floor well, rebound and play above the rim, block shots and has shown an above avg passing ability in the early season.
  11. AA - Our toughest player on the team. Really gets after it defensively. Can hit the open shot. Moves well without the ball. Runs the floor well. Advances the ball on the break well, while that may not sound like much- Rip/CB over dribble on the break and cost us alot of transition buckets. Has a knack for making the right basketball play. He is every bit of what Joe campaigned on draft night. Should be starting.
  12. Stuckey - Jury is still out, but if he can do what he was doing that last pre-season game then he is the truth. The development of him and AA could make Rip and/or CB trade bait in a year or two.
  13. Samb - As someone pointed out, he is more NBA ready than anybody expected. Pure shot blocker, really long and has a very nice shooting touch, he's only going to get better. 3 years from now we won't believe that all we gave up for Samb was Mo Evans.
  14. Hunter - a vet who every now and then can pick a pocket and spark a team. Although I prefer to see Lindsey in street clothes, but he can stll move his feet on D.
All that to say this, it's time this team gets away from that 5 best starters in the NBA BS and adopt a mentality that we are the deepest and most talented team in the league with a roster full of capable vets and hungry young'ns, who can help us win on any given night.

Good, objective post. There is finally a nice mix here and enough new energy to stop the complancency we have all seen this last couple years.

You won't get much buy-in form the normal FlipS vampires who look for blood trails regardless of wins-loses, but this coach is an ideal candidate to let this team work out its new personality. This will be an up-down team, especially with the new personalities playing, but it will be a long season... steady progress is the ultimate goal.

Flip doesn't have the balls to bench Rip. The team doesn't respect his decision making enough either. And even though AA has a solid offensive game (underrated IMO), Flip just doesn't like guys who are all about D. He'd take a terrible defender/very good scorer, over a great defender/good scorer any day of the week.

Saunders played Ben Wallace, arguably the worst offensive player in the entire NBA, over 35 minutes per game.

Re: Rotations

Flip just explained our poor D on faulty offensive execution the other day. He noted that the other team got a lot of points off of our turnovers, and then they felt like they could hit jumpshots.

So, you are right, he will always be focusing on the big O.

Check again. He is playing for our minor league team. He is quite available.
