Start: Billups, Rip, Tay, Sheed, Samb.

2nd unit: Stuckey, Afflalo, Mejia, JMAX, Amir.

11th and 12th guys: Hunter and Dyess.

Left undressed: Hayes, Herrmann, Brezec

Off team: Murray.

Why the change: Going with better defense. Anyone that comes in from the bench, even the 11th and 12th guys, will come in for defense primarily. Any offense they give us is just gravy.

Here, Dyess has a role. As both Amir and Samb are a bit on the thin side, Dyess can step in as needed for them. But Dyess would not be brought in against quick guys he can't keep up with.

Hunter would be limited to an occasional stint here and there to disrupt them bringing the ball up the floor. Thats better than what Hayes gives us, which is a small forward that is too slow, or a power forward that is not big enough. (Tweener, and you can put Herrmann in the same category)

I would switch Tay and Mejia.

I just switched Amir and Samb to take a scorer away from the first unit. Five scorers is overkill. But now, if I put Mejia with the first unit, its down to just 3 scorers, which is too light. But hey, here is a compromise:

Start Billups, Rip, Mejia, Amir, Sheed.

2nd unit is Stuckey, Afflalo, Prince, JMAX, Samb.

Playoff rotations, barring injury, are now set

Dyess
Prince
Wallace
Billlups
Hamilton
Hayes
Maxiell
Stuckey
Hunter
--------------------------------------------------------
Afflalo will get a few minutes here and and there and that should do it.

Briefly

Saunders said that for now, Arron Afflalo would be out of the rotation.
"After talking to Joe (Dumars ), we decided to shorten our bench somewhat to facilitate Stuckey," Saunders said. "We want to get him out there with more of our main guys to try and help him out."
Stuckey had eight points and five assists in 25 minutes.

Stuckey played without the protective wrap on his left hand.
"The brace is gone," he said. "I got cleared (to play without it)."
Increased load affects Maxiell

The season isn't even half over yet. Nothing is set.

agreed... if i had a crystal ball i would say by playoff time we'll be playing 9 deep most games

with stucky aa max and hayes off the bench...

with hunter being a situational sub

but like you said a long time and lots of games to be played between now and then.

The team is going to need another big. Who is going to be on the court if Sheed and Dyess are in foul trouble? Not sure Maxie can consistently handle more than 25 mpg on regular basis at this time.

hope and a prayer?

that was my guess for a regular rotation.... with foul trouble i really hope that aj has progressed far enough that he's atleast the 4th big and if not getting regular mins he's atleast he can be ready for spot mins (in flips mind)

If Sheed and Dyess both get in foul trouble, the Pistons can just go small. Remember when LB put Tay on Duncan a couple of years ago? Oops, bad example. Never mind....

We know well that AJ can't progress sitting on the bench. I guess it will be Primos time.
