May the best man (or turd) win!
There's no reason these guys have to "compete" with each other for minutes if the roster is properly constructed. Samb can play C, Giant Turd can float around the C and PF spots, Amir at the SF and Maxey at the 2 as long as you have someone like Mejia handling the ball and guarding the perimeter.

Thanks.

I am not saying I am not down with the signing of the young lad. Just that I think some of us are expecting way too much here.

I would be happy with him grabbing some boards and providing some depth. I hope it does not interfere with giving Samb a shot with how hard he has been working.

Revolving door lineups always seem to be effective in the NBA. Drawing straws and using Lee's rotations are other schemes that show great promise.

I think that an "all-headband" starting lineup would be effective with a "no-headband" lineup being deployed as reserves.

An all goggle lineup would be pretty cool too!

Re: Rotations

This one's a little out there, but it might be worth a shot.

C - Sheed (33-35 mpg)
PF - Dyess (33-35 mpg)
SF - Tay (35 mpg)
SG - Rip (35 mpg)
PG - CB (33-35 mpg)

Well, my only point of this post - that signing Herrmann should not make a difference, is just reinforced. No room for the guy. (PS - I posted a rotation that included Kwame on the other site. I got mixed feelings on his signing. On the one hand, it seems we have to have another true center on the team. But on the other, I believe that Amir and JMAX should get minutes over Kwame so Kwame might be in the way of that. Its one of those - good signings if the coach uses the player right, but a bad signing if the coach can't manage to get the minutes per player right. There are plenty of minutes for each player that deserves minutes - as long as players that don't deserve major minutes do not get them.)

I'd give the edge to drawing straws.

Re: Rotations

And since someone mentioned Mejia. He has had continuous problems with that ankle. If he can get fully healthy, I would like to see him on the roster. However, I have not seen Sharpe play yet, so I do not know which player is better between the two. I will say this, if Sharpe is that good that he can beat out a healthy Sammy Mejia for minutes, he is very good indeed.

Here is a 15 man roster that includes Mejia:

Billups, Stuckey, Bynum

Rip, Afflalo

Tay, Mejia, Sharpe, Herrmann

Sheed, JMAX, Amir

Brown, Samb, Dyess

With this roster, you have 4 players that can spend some time in the D League, Samb, Sharpe, Mejia, and Bynum.

Who to start:

Probably go with Brown at center so Sheed can play power forward, so:

Billups, Rip, Tay, Sheed, Brown start.

2nd unit:

Stuckey, Afflalo, Mejia, Amir, JMAX

11th and 12th men:

Dyess, as a defensive specialist vs. bigger centers, and Samb, who we play as much as we can to get his shot blocking presence into the game.

Mejia would be the 3rd string point for this 12 man roster.

This leaves Sharpe, Herrmann, and Bynum inactive, with Sharpe and Bynum in the D-League much of the time.
