I'd say so. Kidd is the best rebounding PG in the league, and was 8th in steals per game, 5th in total steals.

A lot of folks don't give Kidd his due. He's a really inconsistent shooter, but he's been very consistent with steals, rebs and assists his entire career. He's 13th all time in SPG and Total Steals.

Don't even get me started on how he is a Top 75 All-Time guy for rebounds.

If the Spurs had got Kidd 2 years ago when they were deciding on him or Parker, they would have been unstoppable.

Ok, I know Kidd is one of the best PG rebounders in the NBA, we are talking defense here.

Everyone else on that first team is capable of locking folk down, I just didn`t see Kidd in the same category as the others.

Not hating on Kidd, but 1st team. hmmmm.....

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Kidd has been first or second team defense since 1999.

Apparently, he's a very good defender. You have to remember that they don't select the 5 best defensive players per se. They fill a starting 5 set of positions. He is the best defensive PG IMO. Can you name one better?

Earl Watson is overrated and Eric Snow couldn't get wet in a monsoon. There is something to be said for defending and still contributing offensively.

I guess if you have to nominate a PG he would be best suited, I just don`t see Kidd, as talented as he is, as this defensive specialist.

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Complete All-Defensive teams listed below. No wonder these dudes are first-team all-defense...with six guys out there, they could stop any team that's ever played!

First team:
Bowen
Ben
AK47
Artest
Kobe
Kidd

Second team:
Duncan
Chauncey
Garnett
Camby
Tayshaun

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Here is why Ben Wallace was the correct choice as DPOY...

Playoffs +/- stats for the first 2 rounds:

Ben Wallace= +88 (leading the field)
Bruce Bowen= -39 (last in the field)

And we all know Ben didn't get those number with his O-fence.
