Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Set you dvrs kids for the pregame of game 2 Tuesday between the Cavs and the Pistons, cuz Big Ben is going to hoist the Defensive Player of the Year award yet again. The official announcement will be some time today. Was there any doubt? Did anyone out there think that Bowen stood a chance? The real question is can he get it again next year?

Congrats Ben! A well-deserved reward.

That now makes him and Dikembe Mutombo as the only players to ever win the award 4 times. Now all he has to do is go out there next year and get it a fifth time to become the first to do so, wouldn't that be something?

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

No surprises here. Also not surprised to see the Ben Wallace volleyball style spike/block all over TV today. Too bad he is soooo old and can't possibly play at the same level he did two years ago. (Snicker!)

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Anyone think that Big Ben is HOF material?

As of right now I think its arguable, but if he takes a fifth DPOY award I'd say he would be a lock.

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Ben doesn't need a 5th DPOY. He needs another title to have a shot at the HOF. It also wouldn't hurt if he represented the USA in an international capacity.

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

I hope this makes him feel a little more appreciated. He seemed to be super pumped last game on just the rumor that he won it.

It would have been interesting to see what type of monster he would have turned into if they had given it to Bruce Bowen.

Finish this season with a ship, and he's gotta get in. His defensive skills are otherworldly.

Re: Ben Wallace Defensive Player of the Year

Here is a very pointless hypothetical question.

Is there anyone on this forum who would score at least 1 time out of 100 possessions against Ben Wallace 1 on 1 if Ben was fully motivated to stop you?

Would it be more difficult to score on Ben or Tay?

Score how? Jumper, going to the basket, post up?

I`ll shoot a J over anybody, being only 6-1 it would be rather difficult to take either to the hole, at least in a one-on-one situation.
