No, it's because this King crap is nauseating. They didn't make this big a deal out of Kobe, Hill or even heck, Jordan himself.

It's all overrated. He's one good knee twist from being Darko's ball boy. UNtil he does something, how the hell can he be "The King"? So far, he looks a lot like 'Nique.

Re: I don't want to hate LeBron, but I do

Lebron and Wade are the truth, as hoop fans we should be loving this stuff. Think about this we are witnessing one of the best starting 5's ever, while Wade and James develop and fight each other for the east for a decade. The reason why LBJ's hype is so huge is because hindsight is 20/20. Madison Ave looked at the $$$$$ MJ produced and said, "had we known then what we know now, we could have had10 times the money" Well they now better this time around with Lebron, so the hype is 10 times larger.

On a side note Rip's Boost Mobile commercial is HILARIOUS!!!!

You think King's bad? Try Lord Lebron. Kinda rolls off your tongue eh?

I see the media hype more now, I've been more aware of it since you guys have stated it; but, I don't really mind. Give the kid his dues, the fact that everyone else likes him shouldn't marr your judgement.

I've been following the kid since ESPN first mentioned him, you should lay off him cause if he didn't have such an explosive first couple seasons (coupled with bad luck and a useless team), you might be singing his praise like you do D-Wade.

(My tunes always been: "Tra-la-la, the Heat are going downhill")

Try drowning out the media, the hype, all of that fuzz and look at someone who's 21 with a great upside. Wouldn't you have liked to have watched Jordan, Magic, or yes, even Dominque's career's unfold into something successful, or just another losing story?

Join the dark side Micro. The grass is greener here.

Re: I don't want to hate LeBron, but I do

I know what you mean with this thread. I can't say I hate him but the hype does make him hard to like and it has to be backfiring for most non-Cav fans.

I would recommend watching the games on the local stations if you can get them. I watched the last game on WB20. Blaha and Lamb covered the game.

I hate the refs for giving him these damn calls and for not whistling when he clearly made steps in his gamewinner in the first rounds.

I assume you watch Raptors NBATV. Believe me, it's not even 1/10th the hype you get through the solely American media channels. It's sickening.

I had enough of that nonsense with Jordan. The thing about Kobe and Jordan is that they are both champions. It makes the hype bearable because they backed it up.

When I join "the dark side", is when I stop being a Detroit Pistons fan. I didn't like the Darko hype, I don't like the LeBron hype and I'm thinking that Chris Paul's #s look a lot like Mark Jackson's rookie #s.

Show me. I wanna see championships before I bow for the King. Or at least show me some lineage, like Jordan endorsing LeBron as his successor. But wait. He probably wouldn't do that because, he knows he was the best and true competitors don't pass around accolades as easily as some desk jockey on ESPN.

I actually like the kid the way I loved Magic. He is team first. He is excitement personified. I am turned off by the "Chosen" tat though.

If you guys hate him now, how you gonna feel when he is kickin our behinds in a few years.

Re: I don't want to hate LeBron, but I do

LeBron is ok in my book. It's not really his fault he is being marketed like he is by the money hungry league. He has a lot of talent and I would imagine the exposure this young kid is getting puts a great deal of pressure on him. He hasn't said or done anything yet that has bothered me. Especially since everywhere he goes people treat him like some sort of god.

It's just a symptom of the times. In the old days, Disney would come out with a cartoon, it would be a success, and all kinds of toys and things would come out afterwards. Now, before the cartoon even comes out, McDonald's is hyping it and giving away related items in their Happy Meals. The Cartoon makes money before one kid has even seen the damned thing. Money, Money, Money.

It sucks IMO, but I'm not going to dislike LeBron until he does or says something rotten. Well...I kinda dislike him this week because he is the enemy, but that has nothing to do with anything. Maybe if he grabs his crotch after draining a trey like Horry did in game 5, or grabs Ben's crotch like Evans did to Kaman...then I'll dislike him.

For every optimist, you have your pessimist; but, at least give the King his due as much as you do D.Wade if you're going to go with that argument.

I'll give you that, but no one is calling Wade "The King" and both last year and this year he is a lot closer to winning a title than LBJ.

LeBron is the future. I just don't understand why we have to celebrate his arrival before it happens.

At this rate, he will be Emperor of the Galaxy James by the time he competes in a Finals.
