IMO something happened during the Cavs series from which this team never really recovered. I would love to here the post-analysis on this playoff run.
I believe the team respected LB. With Flipper...I think CB is the only one that gives him any credit.

No question about that. Even veterans need direction and need to be reminded what's what.

LB was a great coach, one of the best ever. But his time in Motown had definitely come to an end. There was absolutely no way he was staying on for a third year.

That narrows the list quite a bit.

Saw your post right after replying to anakin...great minds think alike

Re: LB anyone?

All this talk of respect has me wondering: if the team doesn't respect Flip, why is that? Is that on him, or on them?

Re: LB anyone?

Give it a rest. LB QUIT. He was not fired, he forced his way out. Yeah, he was a coaching genius, he also wanted Joe's job, and hated the makeup of this team. Anyone considering having LB as coach should also consider that Darvin Ham would be our backup small forward, power forward, and center.

The good point of Larry is he would have played Delfino. LB not for LB would have been a great coach, but LB is for LB, get over it. If David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and AI didn't do it for him, what makes you think he'd have been happy in the D? The guy didn't give a hair on a ratz azz for Detroit.

Joe brought Flip in after a prolonged divorce with LB. He made the call on Flip being the right guy for this team at this stage. Flip hasn't changed his stripes from past history so maybe he was never a right fit?

Not saying it was. But I'll never trust a beat writer for the truth. The only Piston with something ill to say about LB was Chauncey, and well, his performance under his friend and former coach Saunders speaks volumes.

Flip was in the mix February 2005. That is why he didn't interview for any other jobs. The LB divorce was a know deal before the playoffs even started that year.

No, his run in Motown is finished.

In any case, this season isn't over yet, but hypothetically, if we do bow out to Miami, I wonder how Laimbeer would fare.
My vote was for Laimbeer over Flip after LB was released...BL's got that killer instinct...and wouldn't put up with prima donnas.

Can we finally start saying that Joe has made some major questionable decisions i.e. Flip hiring, #2 draft pick and bench depth? Or is he still above accountability of any sort?
