| any1 notice how just about every piston was in serious foul trouble the whole night.. and how when sheed and chancey got it going they were called for a couple of quick(and questionable) fouls and had to sit down here are all the pistons with the amount of fouls called on them Rasheed wallace 6 chancey Billups 5 Antonio Mcdyess5 Lindsey hunter 4 (early) Ben Wallace 4 (early) Rip Hamilton 3 the pistons had 22 FTA Miami had 47 playing with foul trouble makes you be extremly tenative.. Ive heard that the aggresors are supposed to go to the line more, but i didnt feel at all like miami was more aggressive then the pistons.. the pistons had over 20 more FGA then Miami.. that would be a clear indication of their aggressiveness. The pistons also had 14 Offensive rebounds to Miami's 4 thats a ridiculous disparity.. Last edited by Maverick : 05-30-2006 at 03:54 AM. |

| Re: game 4 officating.. Shaq got away with several fouls in the first half, but aside from that, I didn't think the officiating was much of a factor last night. The Pistons were reaching in all the time, and they weren't getting to their spots when they tried to draw charges. Wade really wasn't getting that much help from the refs, and there was even one play in the 4th, when he hit a long jumper as the shot clock expired, where Rip clearly hit his elbow but didn't get called for it. Generally speaking, aside from the favorable treatment for Shaq in the first half last night and the ridiculous ending of Game 2, I don't think the officiating has been much of a factor in this whole series. It's not like Cleveland, where LeBron was always getting away with pushing off and travelling. |

| Re: game 4 officating.. The one call that really sticks out the most in my mind from last night. Is when Wade jumped 20 feet in the air, completely out of control and really with no intention, nor direction, in mind, it seemed, and then he comes crashing down on top of a player, and they called a blocking foul? I couldn't believe it. He was up in the air, flailing about for like eight seconds, and when he comes tumbling down to earth they call the foul on the player he uses as a cushion? Laughable. If that is just not unbelievably bad officiating, then I don't know what is. Because that was one of the downright worst calls that I've ever seen in all the years I've watched NBA basketball. | Re: game 4 officating.. I thought the officiating was... not so good. But then I started looking at the stats a little bit. Has anyone talked about the unusually low field goal attempts by Miami last night? They were only 28-51 in the whole game. As far as I can tell, the NBA record for fewest FGA in one game is a tie between 53 by Cleveland on 11/29/97 and 53 by Utah on 12/12/97. This means that this game was historically bad. It is like a baseball team scoring 10 runs on 2 hits. There are a few ways that a team can get through an NBA game with that few FG attempts. They can either turn the ball over a LOT, they can get severly outrebounded or they can get a lot of foul calls. Miami only turned it over 13 times. They matched the Pistons in rebounding. However, they had 25 more free throws than Detroit (the team that fouls the least in the NBA). All those little calls add up. Some were fouls, and some were not. The moving screen call on Sheed for his 5th was very disturbing. http://www.rauzulusstreet.com/basket...eamrecords.htm

At least part of that must have been from the "no free chili" adjustment that came on drives to the basket. It seemed like the Heat converted on way fewer dunks and layups than they did in the last two games, with a lot more aggressive fouling by the Pistons on drives, especially in the second half, but the parade to the FT line was also a result. The Heat were still getting to the bucket a bunch of times, with the difference in this game being that the Pistons fouled them instead of conceding dunks. |

| Re: game 4 officating.. What we're finding is that the refs are easily influenced... the wistles tend to follow the crowd... just look at the FT disparity on teams home court.... The Pistons have also gotten under the refs skin... a year of constant whinning has established an underlying hatred for our players.... yeah they're supposed to rise above an personal attacks but human nature eventually takes over... sooner or later you're gonna fire back. Oh yeah, that was one of the worst called games of the year... Ben has to get abused daily by Shaq and then gets another beating by the refs.

| Re: game 4 officating.. I don't believe in conspiracies. The refs are simply inept most nights (both ways), there is little consistency crew to crew, compounded by the fact the crews are not always of the same makeup. The entire refereeing system needs an overhaul. The way they study particular players is disturbing. A foul is a foul. Travel is taking one step too many. Do we get punished for whining and having Rasheed on our roster? Yes. Do I believe it is part of a league conspiracy to down the Pistons, NO. The refs are allowed too much leeway and freedom with no (public) accountability for game changing mistakes or poorly called games.

Lucic cut his hand in a fight with Michael Komisarek. "I'll be fine," he said. "(X-rays are) negative, but there's so many broken bones in there from before you can't really tell." |
