Pistons stand on the threshold of Infamy..

This moment has great potential.
1-3 with 3 to go.
Beaten, bruised and bloody.
Given up for dead.
Pissed on by the world.

I wouldn't want it any other way. By winning the next 3 games these Pistons will prove their incredible heart and will is grander than the game itself. They will forever be known as the team that couldn't be broken. They can be beat, but they can't be broken.

They can destroy the pompous Heat. They can whittle away their confidence game by game. They can unravel all that is wound, all that is Riley, all that is South Beach until all there is left is sand from the soles of all those Miami sandals as they stagger from their arena. Broken.

I live for moments like the one we are about to live through.
Later I can say I was there, in the shadows, in the light, in the foreground and background and in the moment.

Infamy.
Cool.
Dig it.
Be there - be square.

"I just wrote on another thread what a homer I was."

What you talkin about "was"?

All homeys ain't clowns. Technically, it's the first thread I've started in months. I just got tired of all that hollow sound, all those pitful self-serving tear drops. It's always easier to float downstream than swim upstream. I know there's solace for some in crowded like minded places.

This website wasn't built as a house of solace. It's a house of joy brother, joy.

Kudos for actually wanting to root for these guys still. They flat out disgust me right now. Except Tay, Tay's my boy.

Straps up boots... reaches for brass knuckles.... puts rag in back pocket to wipe up blood later...
It's time to show some pride and throw some haymakers!

Re: Pistons stand on the threshold of Infamy..

Blowing up my kids thunder sticks...affixing my son's SpongeBob's toy basketball hoop to the back of the bedroom door for practice sessions before game time...putting brand new DVD in the DVD recorder...making sure new batteries are in the remote (for emergency purposes only) ... the wife is hooking up homemade beef stew. So that's on the up and up...OK everything's covered. I'm good to go.

Let's go Pistons! Torch the Heat!

Re: Pistons stand on the threshold of Infamy..

People don't realize that if the Pistons play a great game Wednesday they're in a better position than they were in the Cleveland series. If they play a great game in Game 5 they will have momentum going in to Game 6 where as in the Cleveland series we had our hearts broken and had to go to the Q.
It's moments like these that gets champions to be remembered. If we went through the playoffs with no scars no one will remember this team. Now it's either legends or chokes. Until the Miami Heat have a larger amount of points on the board than the Pistons with 0:00 left on the game clock it's not over.

Re: Pistons stand on the threshold of Infamy..

The thing with the NBA more than any of the other major sports is that momentum can change so drastically from game to game. Basically whoever won the last game has everything going for them. It's almost strange, but it's true.

I think an excellent example of this is the '98 Finals, when the 5-time champion Bulls went up 3-1 over the Jazz without homecourt. The Jazz won game 5 in Chicago to send it back to Utah for games 6 and 7, and it totally felt like the Jazz had all the energy and were going to bring home the title, and that the Bulls were running on empty -- which in fact, they were. Only a heroic performance from MJ gave the Bulls the win.

If the Pistons win tomorrow, the complexion of the series changes both dramatically and immediately.

We're not done yet....

Re: Pistons stand on the threshold of Infamy..

For some reason, I think the Pistons have Miami right where they want them.

Now the press is hating, the fans are turning, all seems lost. But wait... this is where the REAL PISTONS show up.

I still think we win this series. one game at a time.

Will the real Pistons please stand up, please stand up?!!
