| Re: Official Piston's 2006 eulogy thread I'm thinking about the Spurs right now, and how they come and go each year. Just because your team loses doesn't mean they're done, or in decline. Does anyone doubt that SA will be a serious title contender next year? Point is, were one of 4-5 elite teams that has a possibility to win the whole thing. We can't win it every year. With the same team, we will be contenders again next year. I would not justify major changes, or rebuilding, but dealing one or two starters for some young, upcoming, and most importantly hungry talent would be welcome. The thing about SA, is that no one questions their effort or their heart. That's our biggest problem. Need to find some way to re-light the fire. More important than anything else is season management. This obsession with HCA (and lack of development of the bench) is why we lost. Too many tired payers. Just get 50 wins and coast during the regular season. Play the young guys alot (develop them). Have the starters fresh for the playoffs. Flips XOs didn't bother me so much as his poor season management. |

And they would not stop talking about Wade's flu before, during or after the event. You would have thought it was a national disaster. It got blanket coverage on espn of Hurricane Katrina level status. Even as much as Roger Clemens return to baseball. Can't these people ever think up an idea for a legitimate sports story? I know this is the eulogy thread. I will post something else later. But in keeping with one of our earlier threads On The Bright Side. On the Bright Side I will get a break from the national sports media for the rest of the playoff season and summer. ![]() |

Better team my ass. We had the better team. Our championship strategy was the thing that was inferior. |

| Re: Official Piston's 2006 eulogy thread Maybe Miami "came together" but I don't think they really took it from us. Detroit didn't want it bad enough. The players quit running the offense and inexplicably did not bring the intensity every game. When they felt like it they got their opportunities. I will never root for Gary Payton, Walker, Williams, Shaq, etc. I think Dallas will beat them 4-1 in the Finals. All Dallas has to do is push the ball like they did against SA. Dallas reminds me of Detroit in 04. Too deep and talented. Dallas has great perimeter players and Miami is terrible at perimeter D. Miami gets 2 games max. Snaq goes home w/o a ring. And then I get to enjoy the years rolling along while the already old Heat get older and bums like Mourning, Williams, etc. break down...... I hope Dirk goes for 50 every night! |

We need more consistancy with what the GM's vision is and who the coach plays like the Spurs have. |

We had a good season but a bad ending. We didn't have the hunger and I don't think it was any one thing it was alot of different little things that led to our demise this year.Joe will retool and Flip has time under him with this team to figure out more what they have. The starters don't need to be dismantled, the bench needs work,we have some rookies to look at already here and coming this year. The one thing I would like is if someone isn't rolling or whatnot start someone else for a game, put the pressure on others and take it off the regular five, give the team during the season a chance to gel by this time next year. We had the shots they just weren't falling and injury wise came at a bad time. This run isn't over, just this years run.
