Official Piston's 2006 eulogy thread

In like a lion & out like a lamb.

Oh well.

Not the ending any of us envisioned, but thank you boys for a terrific season.

Maybe next year. Sigh.

Re: Official Piston's 2006 eulogy thread

The winning formula for the NBA has been solidified once again. A cohesive team WITH "superstar(s)" is needed to win in this league. The Pistons 'ship from 04 was a fluke now looking back. This team of talented (not superstar) caliber players can only win when all the stars are aligned. Which they evidently were back in '04

Wade in a pistons uniform? Wow.. what could have been

Perhaps that is because the NBA wants it that way. They changed the rules to make certain of that.

The Pistons had several very successful years.

It would have been stupid to dismantle the team after coming within a quarter of the championship. Joe will adjust.

This team was one of four remaining. People need to calm down and appreciate the good. Things don't always turn out the way we hope.

Joe had to see this coming with hiring Flip, he probably just didn't expect the window close so soon. We had the chance for 3 years, that's more than about 26 other teams can say of the past decade.

Somewhere in this country, David Stern is applauding wildly in the basement of his getaway home...wearing a Dwayne Wade jersey.

Can't blame him! he's responsible for the success of the league, having at least 2 superstars in the finals is good for ratings and better for $$$

thank you darth. you are absolutely right. and, if i may add my own thought to yours, sometimes in the long run disappointed hopes are actually the first step in another very fulfilling path, especially when we able to move on and recognize, in good spirits, that like all failures this one represents an opportunity to re-imagine; in this case, just what sort of team we can put together. at least in my experience, i'd need more than two hands to count the number of things in my life that haven't turned out as I'd hoped and expected, only to discover that some new path was opened and failure shoved me down it, and suddenly, all kinds of new things pop up that I'd never have enjoyed had things turned out the way I originally expected.
