When did you realize

When did it hit you that it was over. Truly it hit me at about half time. Sure it was an 11 point game and we could comeback, but I didn't have that feeling of a comeback.

I realized it was almost certainly over after the game 4 loss to Miami. I figured it was 60-40 we would win game 5, and no matter how I tried to look at it, I didn't see much hope of winning in Miami under the circumstances.

Re: When did you realize

I wasn`t for sure but I had a feeling in my gut after the game 1 loss that we were in trouble. I said from the start of the playoffs that it was important for the Pistons to run the table at home. Well, losing that first game of the ECF at The Palace was costly as someone mentioned in another thread.

February 16, 2006. Once the Pistons traded Darko, there was no way they were going to get past the Heat.

lol

Ehhh, quit bragging. You weren't the only one astute enough to make that observation. About 6 other guys realized it too and haven't been seen on this forum since that day.

I still believed that they were going to take game 6. But when the usual shots did not fall, Shaq scored at will and CBill couldn't stop JWill who never scored that much, and add to that the 'stones were getting the foul calls, yeah, it was over.

Re: When did you realize

I started getting nervous when the Pistons lost game 1. I was especially concerned when we went down 3-1 and gave up midway through the third quarter of game 6 when I realized that we were not going to make up a 20 point deficit with the bad shooting display.

The game got away at the point when the score went from 32-27 to 43-31. I knew we were never coming back and made peace with my soul.

Re: When did you realize

Game 4. That was the one.

I did get up for 5 & 6 but I had already written this team off after Game 4, so it was a little easier to take the Game 6 loss.

Besides. Without Darko, we really didn't stand a chance against Miami.

Game 6, the end of the 2nd quarter. I truely believed that the Pistons could win game 6 in Miami (even before I heard of Wade's illness). However, at the end of the first half, I knew we were done. The Pistons just could not stop Miami's supporting cast from scoring. Shaq and Wade's scoring has never been a big concern; those 2 alone, could NOT beat the Pistons. However, when we allowed White Chocolate, Haslem, Payton, and Walker to score at will, I knew we didn't have a chance. Especially with both Tayshaun and Sheed having an off night. I've seen the Pistons down by 15+ at half, and they came back to win it. However, those wins were only possible when 3 of the 4 core scoring and playing great D. So.....

It hasn't really hit me yet. I'm still in denial. I'll be sick next week when I finally accept that the Pistons lost to Miami and are NOT going to win the 2006 championship.
