But making players accountable for their playing time is a win-win. CB stinking? Sit him. Rip turning the ball over like crazy? Sit him. Sheed looking lazy? Sit him.

But you need a coach with a pair to do something like that.

This season was a wakeup for all of the ankle biters who claimed that anyone could coach this team to a title. Entirely untrue. Coaching is important, depth is important, style of play is important.
There ya go... might add if Ben or Sheed think they're too damn good to listen to the caoch during a game sit their ass too.... Can we bench the coach for messing up

If this were the case Delfino would have had even less PT... sorry couldn't resist.

Cool Re: Is it time for a change in philosophy?

Originally I was on the trade Rasheed bandwagon, but I've sat back and just thought about it and read through the posts for the last couple of weeks. This thread seems to get it right. The philosophy must change. I don't want to hear the cliche "the bench gets shortened in the playoffs" come from a Pistons coach. Spurs, mavs, heat all go 8-9 deep. We need to do the same.

Realistically, we need a big (I mean center, not PF like we have now) coming off of the bench. That's where we are getting killed, no interior presence, offense or defense. Admittedly, I don't know who that player may be right now, but that addition plus actually playing our bench at least some minutes will help out the starters also. Bonzi wells would help also if we could swing it.

The one caveat, though, is that for the philosophy to change the coach must buy into it, and I'm not sure that Flip is willing to change his spots regardless of what Joe tells him. We've had two coaches in a row that refused to play Darko and Delfino.
