Another Flip in Detroit (Ronald)

Good Afternoon my fellow forumites. Another Day down in the Zone. I have 29 days and a wakeup, then HOMEWARD BOUND.

Well, I for one would be more than glad to add Ronald Flip Murry to my team. This guy is solid and undervalued.

Very nice backup for Rip Hamilton, but what would become of Delfino. Would he spend more time backing up Tayshaun?

Get the Deal done Joe.

Re: Another Flip in Detroit (Ronald)

Flip definitely brings instant offense. If we jettisoned the whole idea of having at least decent defensive players, then he is a perfect fit.

Are Sheed, Tay, Hunter and to a lesser extent Rip and Delfino not decent defensively?

Absolutely. Flip would not be though. That's my point.

My point was that the players we currently have are more than average defensively, one player i.e. Flip Murray wouldn't change that, but one coach could i.e. Flipper . Our defense is only going to be as strong as Flips insistence on it.

I see your point especially as it pertains to Flip's role in the defensive identity of the team. The point I was making though is that for the past 6-7 years Joe has made it an initiative to only pick up players that are at least adequate on the defensive end. That is part of the famous "Pistons DNA" so affectionately mentioned in the forums.

I think Joe is primarily looking for a creative scorer so that the offense doesn't get bogged down. The Pistons have never been able to get over the offensive lulls for many years and under 3 different HC.

Re: Another Flip in Detroit (Ronald)

I agree, if you look at the pistons over the past two years, we have not had that great finisher. Someone who could penetrate and score. We always looked for that one person who was hot to bail us out.

And don't forget about the scoring droughts. ERRRRRRRG.

Re: Another Flip in Detroit (Ronald)

Hopefully he is the guy that will bring more offense to Detroit and fill in the spots that we are lacking-he averaged 11.2 points per game last year-which is what we need!
