Sure the motivation was a little factor, but this year we did not have something to fall back on. This was a team who didn't know what they were best at, and when the close and most meaningful games came they didn't know if they could have a better chance at winning through defense or offense.

LB didn't teach these guys how to shuffle there feet or box out he just yelled when the players didn't do this even though they could. Flip didn't. If we get a defensive minded assistant coach in here I don't see all the defense going away with Ben.

If Summer League is any indication, perhaps Alex Acker will get some serious consideration this season.

Acker is 3rd in the entire Summer Leagues in minutes per game (35.5 minutes of a 40-minute game). The fact that he is logging heavy minutes tells me that the Pistons want to take a close look at this guy.

He is making the most of his minutes, as well. Granted it is only 2 games, but Acker has averaged 23 pts (3rd in league), 6.5 reb, and 2.5 assists.

Cheikh Samb playing 29 and 33 minutes in the first two games tells me that the Pistons are trying to find out fast what they currently have with this guy.

Acker is the bomb...adroit ball handler, soft at the rim and hits >85% FTs.

Chieck Samb, Check Sum from now on, CSum for short. Was getting schooled by AmareS at the start of the game [and everyone else too]
but by the 3rd Q he was finding his position and making AmareS give it up. Hit a big shot late in the 4th. [17 footer] His skinny body is quick.
Mateen Cleaves, solid backup pro. Good FT shooter[ball didn't hit rim]
Blaylock, at least a year away, played well.
Medley, was not fouled on a dunk and blew it. [anyone near the rim was fouled, guys got 10 fouls...there was no fouling out]
Rickert, role played well
...The Pistons beat the Suns 90 to 87 after being down 15 at the half. When ?Varen was not in the game for Suns they sagged a bit.

Amir Johnson hasn't showed much yet. Acker has been very good, and Maxiell has been good. Cheik Samb did very good yesterday and hit shots in crunch time.

Amir, and Blalock have not done much yet. we have 3 or 4 games left to see what they can do.

I promised myself that after last year I wasn't going to get all excited about Acker again, but do I ever learn? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I liked what Acker showed in real games last season, and while one has to keep perspective, I find it hard to believe that he could be worse than Ronald Murray or Chucky Atkins or any of the other combo guards Dumars is supposedly thinking about. Give the man some PT.
