As I said before, stats or no stats, J-Max has been called a "hungry rookie" by no less an authority than Bill Lambieer (the real one), and Greg Kelser among others. Plus just watching him, one can see the desire. When has that ever been said about Delfino? Based on the Low's reports on the SL, J-Max is holding his own quite well, thank you. Frankly, I trust the Low's judgement. What are the "reports" saying about how Delfino is doing....right now? |

| Re: Delfino Says He Wants Out Looking forward to seeing how many minutes Carlos will get on his Argentinian team... hopefully much more than he got last time.... but that squad has a lot of veteran depth at that position... could be they have a LB/Flip meanie there too. Some of these games will probably be shown on NBATV. |

What has DD got to do with this? Dale Davis is an established veteran, and at his age prolly should be resting up over the summer. I'm lookin to see when YOU are gunna call for Delfino to get his azz in the gym and work on improving his game. Or you think the guy is so naturally talented that he should not be subject to off-season development? If Delfino comes back weak next season, will you call for his head or Flip, Flip, and Joe's? That's a direct question. |

| Re: Delfino Says He Wants Out Quote:
Early on, he made rookie mistakes, but showed enough flair and athleticism to justify the Pistons' optimism. In a November blowout loss to Denver, Delfino scored 17 points in 19 minutes, registering two forceful dunks over Kenyon Martin in the process. Eight days later, he was put on the injured list after his knee gave out. The injury required two arthroscopic procedures to correct, and was the source of considerable conflict between Delfino and former coach Larry Brown, who openly questioned Delfino's toughness and willingness to play through pain. By the time Delfino returned to the lineup in March, his play was marked by considerable tentativeness. Untrusting of his knee strength, he couldn't cut the way he'd been able to earlier in the season, and robbed of a crucial part of his game, he became more like a bystander. His shooting percentage plummeted, and he was eventually left off the playoff roster. Like his draftmate Darko Milicic, Delfino entered this past summer with something to prove. His run with the Pistons' summer league team was limited by a mild shoulder separation suffered a couple of games in. Up until that point, it was clear that he was a long way from game shape, though he did use the opportunity to show off his passing skills. To strengthen the knee over the summer, Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander had Delfino concentrate on low-impact training. He returned to Argentina, riding his bicycle 15-20 miles at a stretch. 15-20 miles a day? Yeah, I guess he was slacking.

According to your line of thinking, Delfino is "above" the SL. He can spend the summer fishing (again). That's OK with you. But if he can't TAKE any PT then it's: (a) Flip's fault for not "developing" him. (b) Joe's fault for bringing in another Flip who will "take his minutes" thereby making Joe a liar. (c) Flip Murray's fault for "taking" Delfino's minutes. (d) All of the above. I'm betting you will check "(d)." It can't be Delfino's own fault can it? No way...no how! |
