I agree with webz, jersey retiring is about longevity with one team. Ben played only 6 seasons with the Pistons, but he did put up some amazing numbers:
  • 4 All-Star games
  • 4 DPOY
  • 5 1st team All-Defense
  • 5 All-NBA (2 3rd team, 3 2nd team)
  • 2 times led NBA in rebounding
  • 1 led NBA in blocks
  • 2 times in top 10 in steals
  • 2 Eastern Conference Championships
  • 1 NBA Championship
Leaving Detroit for more money doesn't help his case, but the acclimades above certainly build a strong one. Tough call.

Re: Advice to new Detroiters

If you rule out Ben becuase he went to Chicago, that leaves at least a 15 or 16 year gap between players.

Unless you want to put Mikki Moore up there.

For some reason, I can see Rodman's body being a combination of metal parts and chemical preservatives.

Progressive thinking.

I imagine we could get Darth Milicic to preside over the carbon embalming ceremony.

Definitely could consider retiring the worm, but to much baggage afterwards and the time that has expired since he left probably prevents him from getting one.

However if the Pistons fall off the planet for the next 5 years then yeah maybe he can get his raised for being the cog that got the "ship" and the 4 straight visits to the ECF....In other worsd while he was here we "reached our peak"
