Amir going to NBDL?

From McCoskey's article:

Making a move?
Rookie guard Will Blalock and second-year forward Amir Johnson will likely spend the season in Sioux Falls (NBDL).
If that happens, the Pistons will have 12 players -- the maximum on the active roster. Teams typically like to keep one or two extra players on the inactive list.
So, the Pistons could add a player before the end of camp.
President Joe Dumars will be keeping a close eye on the waiver wire. Most likely a veteran point guard would be the target.

Bummer, I was hoping Johnson would sit at the adult table this year. Geez, looking at the waiver wire for a guard. Why not just keep Delk? Or did they?

Re: Amir going to NBDL?

Delk got a job in Europe.

I don't know why they would keep Blalock in the DLeague, and not bring him up in the event of an emergency. After all, Delfino can play the 2/3 (and needs the minutes), and Murray can play the 1/2 (and needs the minutes).

If they need a backup PG, with Hunter in the mix as well, Blalock should be fine as #2 or #3 in the event of an emergency.

Re: Amir going to NBDL?

Delk's gone to Greece (or was it Israel) I think.
Probably Joe didn't keep him because he isn't a real PG- more like Lindsey Hunter's lost twin.
Sad thing that Johnson won't play with the NBA squad, he could ba human victory cigar at least. Could he participate in the slam dunk contest while being in the NBDL?

Maybe Balock simply ain't no NBA material (yet) if Joe still searches, although we've got Murray and Hunter who can play that spot- maybe it's because both of them can't play the PG spot.

I first read this as "Murray can play the one half." I assumed it was some kind of in-joke about a new position, the "half" (e.g., a point guard who scores and passes but plays no D, or vice-versa).

It might be too early in the day to be reading pf.com.

Re: Amir going to NBDL?

I really like the idea of Amir in the NBDL. I think learning to dominate is as important as learning to play. VSL...he wasn't that impressive...yeah he has the athletic tools but that only came into to play on a fast break or around the basket.

Re: Amir going to NBDL?

Amir was pretty good in the NBDL last year. If he keeps progressing, he could be the best player in that league this season.

I think Roscoe meant that Murray can play the 1 and the 2 if needed.

Re: Amir going to NBDL?

Delfino can also play the one. I read that somewhere last year.
