[HVC] SOUR NOTE: Obituary

SOUR NOTE: Obituary
Written by The Low on Friday, December 29, 2006

At approximately 0:00 of 3OT on December 27th, 2006 the Detroit Pistons Defense officially passed away. The Pistons defense was unfortunately overcome on a night when the New York Knicks were able to hover around 59% shooting for most of the night and the once intimidating Pistons defensive effort yielded 151 points to an opponent, the most since the 186-183 triple-overtime victory against the Denver Nuggets on December 13th, 1983. This came shortly before its father’s birth in the late 1980’s.

The Pistons Defense leaves behind several thousand fans, a four-time defensive player of the year, 1 NBA Championship, an NBA record streak for holding teams under 70 pts in a game, and one franchise roster which was reduced to celebrating the breaking of said 70 pt barrier despite being on the short end of a humiliating loss.

The Detroit Pistons Defense could not bear giving up more than twice the amount it had previously forced a team to celebrate reaching, and therefore collapsed.

A viewing will be held on any VHS tapes, DVDs, NBA Hardwood Classics broadcasts, and/or any Google Video/Downloaded Video files you may possess on your personal computer (the legality of which will be overlooked for observance of grief).

The team asks that you send any condolences and/or concerns to the Man Upstairs or feel free to post them on any of the walls the city of Detroit happens to be full of.

Re: [HVC] SOUR NOTE: Obituary

I felt very, very close to the deceased.

I would like to be a pallbearer at the said services if that`s at all possible. I feel as though I lost a part of me............

If the D is really dead, perhaps Flip Sr. should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Re: [HVC] SOUR NOTE: Obituary

If Stern is responsible, perhaps a hanging for mass murder is in order, because 22 other NBA teams are playing even worse defense than the Pistons right now...

p.s. Did you guys catch the Golden State/Memphis score last night:

Grizzlies 144, Warriors 135 (no overtimes)

I think the over/under was set at 229 for that game.

Re: [HVC] SOUR NOTE: Obituary

It must've been on the brink of death, as it came back there for a second against the Hornets (not that holding them under 70 is a hard feat) but it looks like the Bulls finished it off.
