Re: Flip can help

I wanted to add that Will B. had two drives to shoot, on the first he drew a foul on Barbosa, and if he wasn't a rookie, he would have got a shooting foul out of it.

On the second he was fouled on a break and made both the free throws. There was also a sequence where Nash drew a charge on him, but Nash was totally not set. BillLaimbeer responded to my "BS BS BS' posts in chat that it's MVP versus rookie. Too true. Sometimes you don't get calls you deserve strictly on reputation. That was a turnover, and he also had a turnover running a break and trying to get the ball to Max for a dunk (too unselfish, ain't that a breath of fresh air?)

Don't get me wrong. I don't think Blalock should start or that he is god's gift to basketball. I just don't see him costing us games, and given our depth situation, he's giving a decent showing for a 60th overall pick (Mr. Irrelevant).

As Merc agreed with me, Flip Murray is here trying to generate the stats his agent (Thad Foucher of the powerhouse Wasserman Media Group) needs to get him a better deal next season.

Re: Flip can help

I don't think Flip Murray is playing any different this year because of his contract situation. The guy is a scorer. That's just his nature. He is the best on the Pistons roster at creating his own points. The same people that say "Flip Sucks" also complain that the Pistons don't go to the hole.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, Murray's defense is mediocre, his outside shooting is streaky, and his ability to drive-and-dish is limited. For under $2 million, you're not going to get a complete, starter-caliber player.

Can Flip Murray help the Pistons this year? If the Pistons trade him, can they get anything of value in return? Can Will Blalock help the Pistons this year, even if he can't score any points? So many questions...

Re: Flip can help

I think Darko is avg more points per 48 than Murray has been this season. 6.2 PPG in almost 20 mins, shooting around 0.411.

Not that he has been having a bad season considering his career stats.

He can be usefull but not for as many mins as he had been playing. It was a total joke the way he was propped up as the 3rd guard that Dumars had been looking for all this time. The next Vinnie Johnson - give me a break. When you hear something like that it make me seriously wonder if Dumars is slipping, or if he just got lucky before. A 12 year old could have picked better 1st round lottery picks than he has.

Hopefully Blaylock will start the next few games and Flip will go back to the bench continuing to have his mins cut. I doubt it though.

I agree.

Someone should mention that to Sheed, who was 0 for SEVEN from the 3pt line last game.

Sheed is not a good 3 point shooter. He is just lazy. He doesn't want to work for points in the paint so he just stands 4 steps behind the 3 point line and jack them up at will. With his ankles banged up he is not going to get the lift on those shots anyway he is just wasting his time.

For a big man he is. He doesn't use his shooting ability the right way though. He should go inside first and if the defender tries to cheat and stay inside he hits them with a 3 ball. It's combination of laziness, and play calling. I remember Phoenix being on an 11-0 run or something along those lines. That drought stopped when we gave the ball to Sheed inside, but then we never went back to him inside.

As for Flip Murray yes he can help if his mind set changes, and he does what he can do well. If he drives, and looks to pass first before scoring he could help. That probably won't happen so this Chauncey injury might get the Pistons some L's but if Flip does good in his absence it could help bring a good player to Detroit by the trade deadline.
