Sheed is bored

These games, the ones on TV, the ones that we crowd into chat for and pound keys until blood runs from our fingertips, they are boring to Sheed. A big snore fest.

Pistons better pick up the pace - 01/08/07 - The Detroit News Online

Quote:
Just last Thursday, after a victory in Oklahoma City, Wallace said, "Once the playoffs get here, I think that's what I am looking forward to and what we are all looking forward to. In my opinion, the regular season is boring until you get those good matchups with Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio and those good teams. You definitely look forward to that, but these others, it's just going to the office."
I also like this line from Rip...

Quote:
"We still have the best record in the East," Richard Hamilton said after the 106-89 loss at Ben-fest in Chicago on Saturday.

Ah, no. The Cleveland Cavaliers (21-12) have surged ahead of the Pistons (19-12), and the Magic (21-14) and Bulls (20-14) are right on their heels.
Remember when the Pistons played hard EVERY night? That stupid slogan called "Goin to Work"?

Re: Sheed is bored

Some Pistons players still go to work every night. JMax, Delfino, Tay. Play them.
As for Sheed, this is inexcusable- I can imagine that the games lose their speciality once you're a vet but look at how much money he gets. Besides, he doesn't play that well once the playoffs arrive to say how little he cares about the regular season. BENCH HIM! Hand more minutes to JMax!

Really? Tayshaun? I do agree about benching Sheed, though; even in the days in Portland when some considered him a cancer he didn't fail to produce this much. Maybe the ankle problem is still affecting him or maybe he's just lazy, but either way Flip shouldn't be afraid to cut his minutes.

Re: Sheed is bored

Maybe he's not as excited about play as in the post season, but I find it interesting that the minute a guy's not playing well or even just has a 2 bad games in a row...he's lazy.

I wonder if some of these "Sheed's Lazy" fans take the same view when their favs are not playing well. When the guy puts up double doubles, it's like, "Finally!"

But the funny part is, these "finally" posts come up more often then not as his bad games still don't outnumber his good ones. This was the same thing that happened to him in Portland. The team struggled a bit and all of a sudden Sheed was the escape goat for not dropping 30 a night.

The big agreement on Sheed coming here was that everyone was thrilled that he could "fit right in" and not need the ball 50 times a night and still give us double figure points and rebounds, but that's the very reason every one is $#!++!^& on him now. Oh, that...and the fact that he 'shoots the 3 ball a little too often.'

What's I don't get is that so many fans were totally in love with Okur and he was simply Sheed without the post play skills. I don't know about all of you, but I'd rather have a Sheed who CAN get in the post (even if you think it's not frequent enough) than Okur who refuses to get in the post (and often double pumps and gets blocked by 6'6" guys the 3 times a season he tries) at all costs.

...maybe it's just me....

Re: Sheed is bored

Finally some realistic input on Sheed and Okur. Watch a Utah game..Okar is merely Sheed lite. Boozer is the main source of paint points

Re: Sheed is bored

I'll admit that I have been one of Sheeds critics, as I don't like the effort he puts forth in the flow of the game. He is a gifted athlete that was as most NBA fans will agree was the missing link in the Pistons championship season 2.5 years ago.

Although some of us blamed him for leaving Horry open 1.5 years ago in game five of the Spurs-Pistons title series, that could have happen to any player in the heat of the moment.

Last year he fell in love with the offensive fliposophy and shot more threes than free throws and moved away from his power game. It was his injury along with the burnout to his fellow starters that probably led to their playoff demise.

His statements of waiting for the playoffs or key games pretty much explains in his own words his lack of effort this year. IMO all games are meaningful and you give your best and you earn your paycheck wether it is San Antonio or Charlotte. However if you are in pain, or hurting, speakup and sitdown and let the next man play. Don't go out there just because the coach thinks that your experience will help, because sometimes your lack of strength or mentality hurts the team as awhole.

One other note, for Rip to say that "we still have the best record in the east" means that either he is not keeping up with the competition or doesn't think the others can compete. I am sure he probably wasn't aware the Cavs had won that night. Hopefully he, SHeed, CB and Flip realize that this is going to be battle with or without the Heat. The Pistons are having issues in their own division losing twice to the Pacers and once each to the Bulls and the Bucs with it's lone victory over the Cavs, who now seem to have it all together winning 4 games in five nights.

Lets get it together boys!!!

Re: Sheed is bored

So the thread says Sheed gets board (against his lazy backside)... sorry Low but Sheed has had more than just a couple bad games in a row... this bored effort is not acceptable.... he's losing the battle against just about everyone he goes up against.
Tay also needs to step it up... for that matter who doesn't?... at least with Rip you get consistent effort.... since when did trying hard in the regular season become an option.

Re: Sheed is bored

Perhaps, Sheed is trying last years Miami Heat approach to winning a championship.

We all know how that went; Shaq half assed it till the playoffs, took 10-15 games off, then got hot at the righ time and Wade took over. The thing is, the Pistons don`t have a Wade, Shaq, Pat Riley or the Heat`s supporting cast of last year, not to mention their hunger and desire to win at all costs.

Seems to me that Sheed hasn`t realized that the rest of the league is not afraid of the Pistons anymore. Sheed`s` play has been lacking of late and now his attitude is going south also.
