Second, saying we can't win without Flip is akin to saying you can't live without gout.

Lastly, Yes and Yes. Not only will our chemistry die, but our propensity for wins along with it.
I'm going to disagree with you here, Low.

I am not a Chris Webber OR Bonzi Wells fan. I still think of Webber as a choker for some reason, and Wells as a malcontent.

HOWEVER, that being said, it's just a gut feeling, but I think for a half a year they can do no harm. I think they will help...if Flip Sr. plays them. I don't think we will win the ship without them and I also would love to see Flip Jr. booted out of town.

I think Flip Sr. can handle those two guys for a few months.

I'd do it if it's possible.

How would such a negative impact work out?

Was wondering the same thing. Both contracts would be for this year only, and I'd still say we'd at least make it to the ECF this year...

Here's one....when was the last time Webber played a full season? It's like taking on Marcus Camby. Looks good, but does crap for you in the real world.

I don't think there's any way this side of the moon that we win a title WITH those guys. Nevermind that Saunders has to hold a team meeting about focus and discipline with the most veteran/mature team in the league. Focus and Discipline are the coach's job. They don't just intrinsicly spring up from within players that's why coaches exist.

If he can't keep this veteran group of mild-mannerd (although spoiled by winning) group of guys on the same page...all hell will break loose adding Bonzi to the mix.

Not to mention the countless newspaper articles on what Webber USED to be able to do and what he COULD do to help us...forgetting that none it will ACTUALLY happen because he'll be injured again or shooting 4-16 or disappearing in 4th qtrs...on and on.

This is a "Knick" like move which would result in tons of potential on paper, lots of excitement for the beat writers, but not much in the way of dependable victory come playoff time.

2 first round picks next draft (hoping for 3)... I'm sure someone of decent value will be available with the MLE too, let me look into it....

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

I've been busy all afternoon and wish I could have got in on this thread sooner.

First, thanks #1. It's good to have some inside sources, even if they feed you BS, because once you figure out how good the source is, and whether it is information or disinformation, then you are learning stuff that matters.

If we add a CUT/BOUGHT OUT CWebb, we would be adding him for a one year, minimum contract. It means NOTHING to our future prospects. And it doesn't hurt the team financially because the NBA picks up some of the value of a veteran minimum deal. Essentially, he would be playing almost for free.

I have no comment on Bonzi at this time.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if Webb is bought out and we sign him for $X, we lose:

The rights to Acker IF we signs that offer.
PT for Maxiell and Amir.

I doubt Cwebb will be happy here with our playing time situation.
