If anything Flip Murray showed a lack of consistency with his opportunity. He does not work as a backup and was underwhelming as a replacement.

It was a great opportunity for Will to get some seasoning but worrying about Will's ability to backup CB is like worrying if your underwear has wrinkles on it. He is at least a year away.

I'd be worried if my underwear was wrinkled if I didn't have any pants. That is the position the Pistons are in right now. Blalock is the wrinkles and Murray is the stain.

The only thing WB's a year away from is Euroleague. (what a nice kid though)

I can lay one, accountability. He doesn't take any, or demand it. Which is probably why the players don't respect him, and they won't until he starts punishing bad behavior and rewarding good behavior on consistant basis.

Why did JD go out of his way to get Flip?

I guess I need a history lesson. I don't remember the rationale. Were there no other coaches available?

Re: Is Flip turning Detroit into Minnesota?

Didn't Joe wait around for a few weeks courting Flip while Nate McMillan was available? A guy who took the Spurs to 6 games with a perimeter offense and bigs who could do nothing but rebound and foul, and has since managed to get a talent-deficient team in Portland to play inside-out, play hard, and play defense?

Nice comeback. We either wear our trousers to the Big Dance or go home embarassed.

What took a long time was the LB buyout negotiations. I think Flip was their man from the start. Nate was reportedly in the running but took his position as he didn't want to wait.

Re: Is Flip turning Detroit into Minnesota?

I believe a better question would be

Is Flip turning the NBA into the CBA?

Re: Is Flip turning Detroit into Minnesota?

No, Flip has not turned Detroit into Minnesota. As of tonight, their records are:

Detroit 20-14
Minnesota 18-16

so we're not there just yet.
