Any team out of the west is a big ?
Dallas can't guarantee PT.

In the East the Heat are back in the picture as a contender(wouldn't underestimate Riley needing a legit PF)
The Pistons have just as good of a shot as any team in the East.

Agree,

I don't think you can go into next year with a 33 year old and 34 year old starting at your Center and PF positions.

Re: If this is true...

The chatter over the weekend was that Webber was going to be a Piston. All but done they were saying. Who knows? Have to wait until Tuesday afternoon to know for sure.

I was kind of surprised given the UM situation. Fridays local radio talk was dominated by UM cronies demanding an aplogy once Webber gets here. He is going to have to deal with some of that if he came here.

Its not about what he did in college. The Pistons could really use the help up front. Last year when he was healthy he avgd 20 and 10. Even half that would be better than what Mohammed and Dyess have been doing.

Mohammed has been benched so we have the opening. Webber wants to start and he could do it here.

I know its only for 1 season, who cares? Worry about next season over the summer. For now our frontcourt needs help and Webber could provide that.

Re: If this is true...

UofM people are an interesting bunch. it was so many years ago, get over it. besides, even though their records were knocked off the books, it's not like they ever won a championship that was negated.

there were some very harsh opinions from people in the sports Sound Off section of the detroit newspapers that really surprised me. i didn't know people still held so much of a grudge. i'm guessing these people aren't even big pistons fans who are saying this.

Re: If this is true...

Random thoughts:
Cwebb said he will announce his decision Monday because no team can pick up Cwebbs contract.

Miami is the sleeper candidate to pick up Webber.

Hate Murray or not he just played two solid games like a PG.

We'll be in the tax if we sign Chauncey for what most think he'll get.

There should be little doubt that the team needs to make a move.

Flip Sr. is all for a move... stating the need for energy players.

"I go to the dentist once a year usually, not every night," said Pistons coach Flip Saunders. "The last few nights, it's been kind of like having root canals."

Instead of blaming the dentist for all of his problems Flip needs to start taking care of his own business by brushing his own &%^##@@ teeth!!!!!!! Good dental care begins in the home.

Re: If this is true...

If you are Cwebb and you can choose between Detroit, L.A. & Miami what do you do?
The Lakers are bottled up at PF... yet Webber has personally contacted them... there must be interest on his part... but the Lakers can't guarantee starter type minutes.

The Pistons can shift Sheed over to the 5 and give Cwebb his minutes to showcase for his next contract....
There is all of the negative pub that comes from his U.M. fiasco. The Pistons are also playing like crap lately, looking more lotto bound than East finals contenders.

The Heat can offer the minutes AND they have the full MLE to offer. The kicker is that they have Shaq to garner double teams which gives Cwebb a lot of open looks. (better FG %).

If I'm Cwebb, I go to South Beach

I know, they really need to check themselfs. This is not about UM, its about the Pistons. I could care less about their stupid program. Its was endless on WDFN. I have never called into a talk show before but was tempted that day.

Merc - I am still trying to figure out why he would choose here over Miami. The kicker could be that he wants to start and also perhaps return home as the conquring hero addiing that crucial piece. That is if the bitter UM fans will let him.
