If I'm Cwebb, I go to South Beach
How can the Heat offer minutes with Shaq, Mourning, and Haslem?

Re: If this is true...

I think the Heat will make noise no mater who the player is, because Riley is much more concerned about being in rival GM's heads than actually overhauling his roster.

It's kinda funny if you watch how the Spurs operate. They come right out and say "We don't want that guy, he can't help us" on day 1.

It's two different approaches to due diligence.

Re: If this is true...

The Heat basically want Webber as an insurace policy for Shaq. No guaratee of PT and no guarantee that they can even turn around their season.

Re: If this is true...

From a radio talk show

Webbers agent said he didn't think there was a front runner... but he did say Detroit offers him everything he needs, and Joe has been very aggressive, very professional and very supportive in this process with Chris...but so has Miami, and so has Dallas, and the Lakers aren't too far behind.

He said the one negative with Dallas was that there isn't a lot of playing time going around. But with Detroit, he could embrace Detroit. And with Miami, who wouldn't want to play with Miami. Then he said, Everybody knows that once they get healthy they'll fight back and contend for the championship just like they did last year

Also discussed was that Cwebb would have to use Monday to get a physical and be ready to play by Tuesday.

Goodwin said Webber had spoken with Pat Riley of the Heat, Dumars and coach Flip Saunders of the Pistons and general manager Mitch Kupchak of the Lakers (Webber and Kobe Bryant had exchanged messages), and had arranged to speak with Mavericks coach Avery Johnson.

One player is not going to change everything. It's just going to alter perceptions in the short term.
So do you think Nazr can get it done?

My personal view is that we can afford to lose Nazr, Dice and Flip in our current roster to get either CWebb or MoPete or both of them. Can't afford to lose DD. JD, DD is a keeper if we wanna go far into the playoffs this year.

Re: If this is true...

You need more than one 37 year old center. We don't have a gritty big man, and there are none of any NBA caliber floating around as free agents (unless I am missing something).

So you gotta keep Nazr. Webber is going to make Maxiell or McDyess redundant. I'm leaning towards McDyess despite his trade kicker.

Mourning and Shaq would continue playing center and Haslem would come off the bench... Fatoine would play solely at SF.
In the playoffs Haslem may be their one weak link against larger PF's

Good stuff Merc. Keeping us posted is appreciated. Lots of food for thought.

Re: If this is true...

From a PR perspective, this will be absolutely devastating to the Pistons if Webber shuns them.
