| If this is true... that CWebb is personally talking to the Lakers, then JD should immediately suspend all further negotiations and end all talks. This is a bad sign and his wanting to contribute and obtained a ring is BS. Big money he has, and apparently he can't get rid of that huge ego dependency. Let the Lakers have him. |

It is one thing to have your agent mix talk around the teams who might be interested, this after all, is his job: to get the maximum financial benefit and to put his client in a situation that will increase his value for future possibilities. What you, as a professional, are showing is a projection that all teams are at the level of acceptance. What I mean by this is that given broad perimeters, that your client has expressed (CWebb said to a contender) no one team is at a disadvantage. All are heard equally. No club wants to put themselves into situation which might cause internal team member doubts and then the rumors start spreading. Professional negotiations must be handled this way. This all changes when a ballplayer personally starts negotiation. This unbalances equal rights and I might add, ethical considerations for the ballplayer personally. We would also have to add the agent's name in this equation, but the real world gives them special considerations. They usually start out lacking. What we need to understand is that the process is just as important as the desired end. If Mr. Davidson knew this was going on, I doubt very much this would be an acceptable negotiation. JD needs to pull out and the sooner the better. |

| Re: If this is true... It's a dog and pony show. I'm neither here nor there with Webber. I don't see him playing Center, and am not a fan of small ball, or a double power forward lineup. Someone has to do the dirty work in the paint and on the boards. Someone has to pound with Amare, Shaq, Dampier (don't laugh), Howard, Boozer/Okur, Curry. One player is not going to change everything. It's just going to alter perceptions in the short term.

| Re: If this is true... The problem is that there has been too much time between the actual buyout and the actual commitment. It's driving me nuts. It's hard to ignore. I think C-Web should be able to talk to anyone he wants. Obviously, there isn't much else going on in the NBA if everyone is going nuts about a gimpy power forward whose best days are way behind him. C-Web is just trying to see how much love he can get from as many places as he can get it. He hasn't been loved in a long time. I agree with Dlev. Why come to faltering Detroit when you can live in Cali and play a little Showtime? Problem is, C-Web is a sensitive guy and has heard the boos at the Palace. He wants to make amends with the Metro Detroit community. I say, "Who cares?" Also, C-Web probably did not like playing with ball hog Iverson and realizes playing with Kobe will be the same drill. It'll be interesting to see how it all turns out. The suspense is killing me. I need to turn off this damn computer.

| Re: If this is true... I don't see the big deal about C-Webb talking to the Fakers. So what he is personally talking to them and not going through his agent. To be honest agents are the scum just below ambulance chasing lawyers. In Webber's case he is a veteran and already will pocket a lump sum in his buyout from Philly so there really is no need for an agent. He simply needs a lawyer to look over the terms of the new contract and make sure it is on the up and up. C-Webb can work out those terms on his own. I see no problem with C-Webb negoiatating on his own behalf. It is ultimately his choice and from all accounts the teams on his list basically can pay around the same amount of cash. It is a matter of which team fits Chris and how he feels he will be the most effective.

| Re: If this is true... Webber throughout his career has been a solid 20+ points, 10 rebounds in 40 minute averages. It's uncanny how solid his numbers have stayed in per minute production regardless of team, system or health/age. I would expect you could prorate those numbers to whatever he gets in Detroit. 30 MPG, 15 PPG, 7.5 RPG 20 MPG, 10 PPG, 5 RPG 10 MPG, 5 PPG, 2.5 RPG etc.

| Re: If this is true... Have to admit the thought of someone that knows what to do in the post is intriguing... you can imagine how effective the P&R would work with Chauncey or Rip. No question our defense would take a step back... I'm also not sure that Sheed can make it through the season playing the 5. You know that Cwebb is asking for guarantees for minutes... putting Brahma (and Amir) on the dusty shelf. One year?... ok... two?... not at the cost of our two young bigs. |

| Re: If this is true... Webber is coming here for one and done. We won't sign him next season with the MLE if Joe wants to protect Amir Johnson and keep Alex Acker's rights. Someone out there will give Webber the MLE if he plays well down the stretch.
