Re: Official trade thread

It won't get much better than this:

Pistons Trade:
Nazr Mohammed
Flip Murray

Suns Trade:
Marcus Banks
Jalen Rose
Sean Marks (Expiring filler)

For the Pistons: We get a solid young backup PG who likes to play D and can create his own shot. We also get another Fab-Fiver in Jalen Rose who can provide a scoring punch off the bench. Marks is an expiring guy that could be waived or kept on the Inactive list. This also gets rid of Nazr's contract, and Flip Murray's.... err... Flip Murray

For the Suns: Kurt Thomas just went out with an injury, so they need a backup big that can come in, grab a few boards, and knock down a shot or two. They also get Flip Murray who should fit much better in a run-n-gun system. Banks and Rose are recent additions that never really made it into the rotation. There is already talk of a buyout for Jalen and Banks is racking up DNP-CDs like crazy.

PG- Billups | Banks | Hunter
SG- Hamilton | Delfino | Rose*
SF- Prince | Rose | Delfino*
PF- Wallace | McDyess | Maxiell
C- Webber | Davis

*Delfino guards the better offensive player of the opposing SG/SF to mask Jalen's defensive issues.

Re: Official trade thread

This is from the notoriously unreliable site HoopsWorld (Chris McCosky has a column there), but Bill Ingram is one of their bigger names.
Quote:
The Houston Rockets knew they were taking a gamble when they signed Bonzi Wells for the 2006-07 season. His well-documented issues away from the basketball court often outweighed his contributions on the court. Now, just two months into the season, the Rockets have had enough. The Pistons would like to have him back . . .and they should get him.
[...]Since then Bonzi has struggled with different nagging injuries, due largely to the fact that he wasn’t in shape to begin with. When he has been in shape his attitude has prevented him from being on the court for more than a few cameo appearances. Jeff Van Gundy has had enough, so when the Detroit Pistons called offering Nazr Mohammed the Rockets should have jumped all over it.
[...]Gregg Popovich came to the conclusion that Nazr doesn’t do enough on either end of the court, which is why he began taking away playing time last season. The idea, however, was to start him when they traded Rasho Nesterovic to the Toronto Raptors. They were surprised to learn that Nzar was spurning their starting role in favor of playing in Detroit. Nazr was not amused with Popovich’s dog house routine, and preferred to change venues. Ironically, the Pistons have come to the same conclusion. Nazr doesn’t bring enough to the equation to be their starting center.
[...] The Pistons are considering some other deals, but the Rockets have reportedly made it clear that a Nazr-for-Bonzi deal is ready and waiting.

Re: Official trade thread

Ingram is a straight shooter. He's credentialed with all 3 Texas teams and provides a lot of insight into the Mavs, Spurs but mostly the Rockets.

Re: Official trade thread

After reading his negative description of Wells in that article, I still think the Rockets would be getting ripped off in that trade.

Re: Official trade thread

Big trade article in the Free Press today...

Goodbye, big men: Six is one too many

Quote:
A team source confirmed the Pistons have talked with the Timberwolves, who are shopping backup point guard Marko Jaric, among other teams. Jaric is out with a sprained thumb and did not play in Monday's win over the Pistons at the Palace.

The source said the Pistons will listen to offers for any of their non-starting big men -- Nazr Mohammed, Antonio McDyess, Dale Davis and Jason Maxiell.
Maxiell? A team source confirms this? C'mon!

I am seeking in trade a Walter Dukes embossed card from his first year with the Pistons with the original bubblegum attached. Only serious trade offers considered. Will offer one Darko embossed rookie card in exchange.

Walter Dukes Past Stats, Playoff Stats, Statistics, History, and Awards

Re: Official trade thread

I'm thinkin Flip and Nazr to Seattle for Danny Fortson.

Seattle get's the vet big man they lookin for and an expiring contract.

We get an expiring contract as well, but one who just might shut the highway down. And won't take too many shots.

It's unlikely they would trade Maxiell, who offers the most upside and has a low-paying contract that would make any deal more complicated.
Easy there 36...Jmax ain't goin anywhere yet.

Nazr sounds more upset by his minutes than his performance...he gotta go.

Jaric's not happy as a reserve...I doubt the Pistons trade for him.

Nice to hear Mo Pete still mentioned in passing.

If we trade Max for a backup I am officially retiring as a Piston fan.
