Official trade thread

With the trade deadline just around the bend, trade talks will be on the rise.... In an effort to pull it all together, this thread can be used to post your trade ideas and rumors.

Here's the first in a series on proposals to kick it off:

Dallas is looking to add depth at the PF/C position and may be interested in one of our bigs if we pick up Webber (Dallas News) .

Detroit trades:
Rasheed Wallace
Will Blalock
Ronald Dupree

Dallas trades:
Desagana Diop
Anthony Johnson
Jerry Stackhouse

Detroit signs Chris Webber

Reasons for Detroit... they get out of Sheeds long term contract and gain 8M for next years options.
Webber is not a big drop off from Rasheed (todays version)... the future opens up for Amir Johnson and Maxiell.
The Pistons gain a big shot blocker in Diop for future matchups with Miami (Diop is one of the few players that slows down Shaq).
Anthony Johnson is a solid defensive PG/SG
Stack gives us a real scoring option off the bench... and has a 9.3 expiring deal.

Reasons for Dallas: Not a team to be concerned about lux tax implications they gain a much needed scoring PF/C that can stretch the defense for their wing players (Sheed).
They free more up PT for Harris and Howard

Second Deal

Detroit trades:
Nazr Mohammed
Flip Murray
Minny 2nd round pick

Seattle trades:
Earl Watson
Johan Petro (salary filler)

Reasons for Seattle...
Murray should opt out of his deal next year, giving the Sonics just enough room off the hard cap to stay out of the lux tax next year.
They are desperate for a veteran Center that can score.
The Minny pick may be close to a first round pick when they receive it.

Reasons for Detroit...
The Piston gain a true backup PG that can distribute, score and defend.
They get out of the long term Nazr mistake.
They become a better interior defensive team.
PG security in case Chauncey decides to walk next year.
Better cap flexibilty for next year and beyond

Pistons become:
C- Dale Davis, Desagana Diop, Johan Petro
PF- Chris Webber, Antonio McDyess, Jason Maxiell
SF- Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Delfino, Jerry Stackhouse
SG- Richard Hamilton, Jerry Stackhouse, Anthony Johnson
PG- Chauncey Billups, Earl Watson, Anthony Johnson

A team that can defend and score. Watson and Delfino become an excellent playmaking combo for the scorers.

Re: Official trade thread

I love it for us, but Seattle definately wouldn't do the deal. First, they won't take FlipM back. Second, Petro is not just filler. He's a 21 year old 7-footer with tons of "P-Word". Maybe they'd do it if we change that 2nd rounder to a 1st, but I'm not sure about the Flip Murray part of the deal.

Fair enough... Petro may be worth our 2nd 1st round pick...
As for them taking back Flip... I agree however the tax ramifications are real for their tight ownership.

Re: Official trade thread

Forgot to add Hunter in the mix... last SG & PG as defensive insurance.
Also Amir as the last PF.

Re: Official trade thread

According to the Minnesota star tribune the Pistons and Twolves are close to finalizing a deal for Jaric... in return they'll get one of our big men... believed to be eith Nazr, Davis or Dice.
I'm not a fan of Jaric... he was labeled as a good defender but everytime we play him he gets lit up... he strikes me more as a SG than a distributing PG.
I guess if this is the best we can get for Nazr but no way for Dice or Davis.
Can a fella get a sticky?

Re: Official trade thread

This is off topic and doesn`t refer to the Pistons but I found it verey interesting.

The recent Denver/Bucks trade that sent Steve Blake to Denver and the popular Boykins to the Bucks apparently went down without the approval of Nuggets head coach George Karl.

Is something brewing with the head coaching job there?

Bucks obtain Boykins

Re: Official trade thread

Damn the Sonics won't part with Watson for one of our bigs...

Seattle Insider:
Doesn't appear Dale Davis will happen

Posted by Frank Hughes @ 11:24:14 am
The Sonics called the Pistons to inquire about Dale Davis, but the Pistons asked for either Earl Watson or Luke Ridnour. They are searching almost exclusively for a point guard, and the Sonics are not willing to give up one of theirs for a short-term fix in a season that likely is over. Don't know where that leaves the Sonics in terms of searching for a big man

Re: Official trade thread

Flip Saunders, Jerry Stackhouse, and Chris Webber... that's the beginnings of one hell of an all-choker team.

The Pistons won't get anything out of Seattle with what they currently have to offer, and that Dallas deal is horrible.

How about Flip Murray, Ronald Dupree, and Nazr Mohammed to Sacramento for Jason Hart and Kenny Thomas?
